What firm are you with? You are terribly terribly under compensated, even in a low cost of living area. Is this your first year out of undergrad? Most firms bring in new grads at at least $75k even in a mid cost of living area.

Where are you living, and what is your background? With compensation that low, I’d recommend taking your skills to market and seeing what competing offers you can rustle up.
48K doesn’t sound like management or strategy consulting. It largely depends on the years of experience you have, the type of “consulting” that you do, MBA or no, and as you stated, COL

What level? mba grad?
However - if you’re not a consultant/client facing (work internally, support staff) you may make less
If you’re doing audit or non client facing analyst work, then it could be normal. We have a group of analysts that are not client facing that get about $50k.

One year out of school, $95k base plus $10k signing in [nyc/sf]
48k is definitely not high, but you mention you rent your apt for $750. Do you feel like you are comfortable? I.e. meet your needs, pay your student loans, put a little in savings in retirement, and have some fun money? If so you are okay for an associate, if you are having trouble meeting the items above you may want to find another firm.
I’m happy where I’m at. $95k, 4 years post undergrad, Chicago.
Depending on what city you are in and if you are fresh out of school, that sounds normal. I also started out in a low-average cost of living city and was at 49k.
96k DC almost 3 years out of college
85k, NYC, right out of undergrad
