At family reunion and playing Monopoly Deal (first to $1M wins) with younger cousins. Crushed them. Teaching life lessons. 👌
Not so fun one: drank too much at the holiday party and feel like a total idiot. Nothing happened but still, lesson learned. Any advice on how to recover?

Folks that have been laid off in their careers, did you take a pay cut in your rebound role? How big and how'd you cope?
Something that bothered me, but I never really felt like I should ask -- why are salaries not rounded off? Or maybe they are for other people? In my entire career, my base salary had no zeroes at the end (i.e., instead of something like $12,000.00, it was something like $12,345.67). I'm not sure why -- does anyone have an explanation for this? Doesn't seem to make sense.
Just wondering if anyone can share comp insights for PWC - Associate and EY - Supply Chain Consultant. I have initial interviews coming up and don’t want to price myself out early in the process. Both are new grad roles in Canada HCOL city. I have 7 YOE in industry, no consulting experience.
What core function of a biopharma / Med device company would you specialize in, imagining whatever you choose you’ll come in with all the knowledge and experience you need? (E.g. HCP or patient marketing, value and market access, sales, supply chain / manufacturing / procurement, med affairs) Consider future trend and gap, demand for expertise / easiness to entry or to be replaced, career path to c-suit in a company, impact to the health system / patients, compensation etc.
Any insight to what bonuses look like at USDC? Curious to know what to potentially anticipate. A couple friends in core GPS last year claimed receiving as little as $200-500 for bonus...
Say you’re offered a job that pays $325K, and you can work anywhere within the U.S. (remote job & team with occasional travel to meet team). Where would you live and why? Obviously “it depends” just curious to see the range of responses from this group!
Been hell of a year so far. Sort of bittersweet. Lost my job a few months back. Laid off the first time. But my net worth is all time high. And not only that, this has been the fastest increase. 401k up 40% this year. Personal brokerage up 40%. And just refinanced at 2.5. Not sure whether to be sad or happy. Guess will go with happy for now.
Didn't get promoted and the more I think about it, the more upset I become. Had a good year, helped fill in gaps, took on roles to help lead internal initiatives, led/managed teams to success, and worked looonnnggg hours to the point of burnout. Leaders also know how much I was working. I didn't expect a promotion because I had low expectations for my firm, but I'm still pretty bitter. Should I ask why? Was I too naive and ended up giving too much? Or is this a reflection of my work/value?
What’s the average salary for an SVP Creative Director (Copy) in Chicago at a large Agency? (20 YOE)
What liturgical rite do you observe within the Catholic church? Ill go first, I attend the Traditional Latin Mass of the Latin Roman Rite underneath the one and holy Catholic apostolic umbrella of the church.
After 5 years of good ratings I was terminated from a regional CPA firm, but my last day is next month. Am I obligated to tell a prospective employer I was fired while I am technically still employed?
What’s the fastest way to get a COVID-19 test result? Urgent care places say 2 days for RTPCR results. Someone suggested going directly to a hospital for a same day result but on calling them, hospitals are saying tests only for in- patients who are going for surgery etc.Appreciate any help 🙏
Do you think employees can be fired or laid off if our offices open but we’re not comfortable going back?
Advice needed: my stepmom pays for our vacation every year but she is a monster. I say we all pay our own way and dissolve her hold. The others say just deal with it for a free vacation. She is controlling, mean, and creates a stressful environment. I started getting my own hotel down the street but that made my siblings very mad. So I said Fine everyone pay next year and they folded. I hate it there. But they are my family.
Best benefits of Deloitte ? Thinking about switching from EY for a more interesting group
Do your executives and ownership teams care about culture? Do they care about innovating? My top executive is very “stuck in their ways” and refuses to accept that he is creating disconnects with his team.
A colleague shared with me the presentation they have prepared for their promotion case. I worked with them on multiple projects during the year and I can clearly see that some of the claims on the deck are wild exaggeration or lies. For example, managed changes in scope for Project X including contract changes. Plot twist: there never was a change of scope for Project X and the contract is exactly the same. How can people be so dishonest? How far can you go before truth catching up?
New to comp. C here, my senior just took credit over my work on a meeting with our higher ups. Is this common? What should I do?
