I feel you. And you/we are definitely not alone in this mindset. The last time I felt like this with a job, I decided to change careers and was in my 2nd year of b-school so I decided to resign and focus on school and my next move. I never regretted that decision. Fast forward to 10 yrs later, I’m now in my 40’s feeling the same way you are and am thinking that consulting during the pandemic has taken its toll on me. I am seriously considering resigning again to take time to figure out my next steps. If you are feeling this way, consider your alternatives (finding a new job, taking a LOA, taking time off, etc.) and consider leaning into the change. If I’ve learned anything from this pandemic, its that life is too short to be miserable in your job. And personally I want to work to live and not live to work.
Hang in there OP and good luck to whatever you decide!
Hey thanks - this was nice to read. I’m in my 30s and am on my second major career as well, so I can relate somewhat. In the process of changing careers, but it’s a very slow process for certain reasons. But let me tell you, you are right about everything you said. I’m hoping to be out within a few months for all the reasons you listed. Thanks a bunch.
Agree. This entire career is kind of gross. I’m looking to change out soon, can’t take any more just constantly new projects delete info from last one
