This article has some fascinating insights based on surveying both parents and non parents in our industry. It’s not what you think.
“ 81% of non-parents in the survey said they respect parents versus 46% of parents saying they respect non-parents. Sixty-four percent of non-parents said they feel empathy for parents; that's more than double the 30% of parents who have empathy for non-parents. And 74% of non-parents said they have appreciation for parents verus 56% of parents saying they appreciate non-parents.”

Same experience. I couldn’t agree more.
Yes and no. The “no” part impacts me much more. I have the opportunity for promotion like never before, but I am completely depleted of energy after almost two years of “having it all”. Slow decline in physical, mental, and emotional well-being is hitting me hard the past few months. My work used to give me something that was emotionally fulfilling, and it is missing when we all work from home. There are no more joyful and inspiring moments shared in-person with my stimulating and emotionally engaged colleagues. My family doesn’t meet my emotional needs and my need to be inspired and connected to people who get me. I have very few friends who connect on this level, and none are local. I could keep going on this, basically to say: If I am not well, I can’t take advantage of the opportunities available.
Yeah, still a no for me.
Covid has brought out the worst and the best! I totally agree with you…. I’m not at all feeling burnt out or overwhelmed, I can work and be fully productive, pick my kids up and continue to work through the evening if that’s what I need to do. The term “work hard, play hard” has never felt so relevant.
Def a blessing and a curse. Blessing to be able to see my kids more, curse to juggle everything all at once in the same setting which makes people (me) go insane.
Without a doubt! This is the one thing I appreciate about the lockdowns. They have given me the chance to be a mother a housekeeper and a Creative. I appreciate this as the 'gift' part of this pandemic.
