Room service prices are over the top - but I still tip to appreciate the person who has the low-paying job of bringing it to me.
Tipping is such an annoying customer experience. Why can't we just adjust rates up slightly like the rest of the world?
Great idea - thanks for sharing. Definitely not trying to screw over the hotel staff but also don't want to just give the W even more money than they already get. 😜😬
Tipping = good karma = AmEx points!
Varies from hotel to hotel, but my experience is that they might get the service charge but not the delivery charge. Usually I ask to make sure they're getting something, and if it is less than 20% I make up the difference.
Yes. Totally. I'm shocked every time I see the bill. I have been ordering Togo box to the restaurant and pick it up on my way out
@A1, do you think the delivery person gets the service charge that was already added to the check? I would assume so but could definitely be wrong.
Always tip a lot when you're not paying. I don't trust that they get the service charge, and even if they do, I'll still put on more.
And yes. I always pay the max for each meal, filling whatever gap with tips. ;)
MCK1 - what's the max allowance per meal?
So did I today. It's too damn high.
I asked a room server. All what's included goes to them. Her perception was - if you order something small - tip. If you are getting a dinner - don't tip, what's included is enough.
