Yes have come to terms that no part of me really enjoys being a lawyer. Feel very trapped in thinking about where I go from here and what to do.

like

I feel totally the same !!! Almost 2 years out in labor and employment litigation.

like

Yes! I literally started looking to change jobs in March 2020...then the job market froze. Hiring is picking back up, but now I’m so burned out I don’t feel like I could hit the ground running in a new role.

Yes!

Yes! It’s hard to network and make new connections during covid, I’m waiting until I can do that and get a better idea of my options.

like

I haven’t, honestly I’m not sure where to start with all of it

like

Exactly how I feel. Business has been extremely slow for us as well so it doesn’t help my feeling of dread towards my job.

Firms are hiring like crazy now, just get your resume out there.

like

100% yes. It’s painful.

Absolutely!

Don’t underestimate the market. If you’re that unhappy there’s no sense in sticking it out if there is the chance at something better. Just my two cents, do what makes you comfortable. But certain practices/businesses are booming in covid, so it’s definitely not impossible to get another job.

Feel it everyday but feel like all places will be the same. So just stick to it everyday.

like

Yes. I am miserable and I’m starting to seriously look for new work because I just can’t wait for the end of the pandemic anymore.

I just switched jobs and it looks like hiring is really picking up. For reference I’m a 3rd year who lateraled.

Eh, stayed in litigation. I went from general liability lit to healthcare lit/compliance. I also moved up a class year because my new firm gave me credit for my clerkship.

What type of self help strategies do individuals actually find helpful when you feel burn out or stuck in a rut? Any books, apps, meditation, podcasts, etc, others find helpful? I've done therapy and it has definitely helped this past year with covid and a marriage separation, starting to feel like I'm making progress and want to keep up the momentum. Looking to see what type of self help others find actually beneficial and would love to use that to help others stuck in burn out too

I recently began to feel Covid-19 symptoms and decided to get tested (waiting for results). My husband took the rapid and tested positive. Meet the Teacher is Monday and school starts for my students on Tuesday. If I have to quarantine, I have no idea how this will work. Will a substitute meet my parents and review the routines and procedures? Has anyone experienced missing the first week or two with your class? I need advice.

If you’ve been laid off during COVID or in the past, do you tell everyone you know or just people who can help you? I have been laid off due to COVID and tried to tell most people in the industry so I can find work, but I’m finding it emotionally draining to tell each person in my life, including every friend, relative and neighbor, that I am unemployed. Sometimes I just say everything’s fine when they ask me in order to save face and avoid their pity. Is this normal?

Might be an unpopular opinion but I’m not terribly thrilled with the new Halo Top ad. I’m all for body acceptance but part of the reason COVID hit the U.S. so hard is because of co-morbidities like obesity. There has to be a line btw “real” bodies and not celebrating a state that causes so many medical issues - Ie overweight without the medical definition of very obese. Do you think brands have gone too far in the other direction?

Anyone else concerned about the long term negative effects of working remotely? Seems to be a minority viewpoint, but I question whether this is sustainable post-Covid for personal, psychological, and profession-specific reasons.

11,000 new covid cases today - most since January. Am I missing something? What ya’ll doin these days? I found the headline puzzling since the city technically could be a herd immunity scenario (state is at 69% vax but city is higher) and many unvaxxed already had covid. Do we think it’s mass events like concerts or back to the office or just the consequences of thanksgiving? Curious to hear your theories, not a dissertation on politics

Feel beyond burnt out over the last 6 months. Over the summer I knew it was time for a new job but I waited in the hope my current role would improve. It did not.
