Take time off. Generally, at least my firm, it’s understood that people will be working less or not at all during the week of Christmas to New Years (unless, of course, there is something really pressing). But, still, if there’s no same understanding at your firm, send out emails letting people know that you will be taking time off. I wouldn’t worry about the perception. It’s totally understandable that you need time off if you haven’t taken it all year (especially how hard this year has been). You need to take care of yourself. Also, I tend to respect associates more who can take time off and aren’t afraid of letting people know that they aren’t available.

What? Yes. I take 100% of my vacation time (20 biz days) every year regardless. Just do it responsibly.

If you are above your hours, you shouldn’t feel any pressure about it. Especially in late December when many are taking we facto vacations anyway. The question becomes significantly trickier when you’re playing catch up.

I feel like in 99 cases out of 100, asking for / taking vacation is only a big deal in the associate’s head. Definitely use your time.

Have anyone done contracting negotiations before? I've interviewed for co A & B and co A extended an offer today. The offer does not meet my current salary. Co B's interview structure is 3 rounds and I've finished my 2nd round today. The recruiter mentioned that since I am a contractor my current salary is incomparable as they will provide benefits, etc. Is this true? I have 2 yrs of contracting HR exp from fortunate 500 co’s & OMW to get my SHRM-CP. Appreciate your advice in advance.

I hope most of us can agree on the below as fellow Americans: -Any group wanting to cause harm to people or a specific group of people have no place in our country. -Clearly our country is hurting and needs productive dialogue at the community, state, and national level from both sides. -One side is never right. MSNBC, Fox News, and CNN are also rarely right. -We’re in dire need of empathy and care for one another regardless of political views, race, geographic location, gender, etc.

Google first interview after the recruiter - they won’t tell me who I’m meeting with or the name of the person. Odd?

Hi people, I am going to have the interview with TRS - Financial services team at EY london. This job is basically assesing the Non-performance loans portfolios of the banks. The recruiters said it will be a case study lasting for 2.5 hours. The case will not be given in advance. They only said it is a about a fictious bank. Any one in this group has any suggestions or thoughts about this upcoming case study?

An external research agency has reached out to me for their client’s request of interviewing me about the consulting industry (eg main focus areas, business models, GTM approach, etc).
