ME I can feel myself trembling on zoom. I’ve never not been confident. I don’t know what it is but I just don’t do well on it.

I’m the complete opposite. What is making you nervous?

Fair! One thing I like about virtual is it affords interesting ways to compensate for the things that make us anxious or uncomfortable. So if you want that personal connect at the start, can you structure a meeting/agenda to dedicate the first 5 min to a thought starter (work or smalltalk question?) Lots of people really appreciate taking a beat, sometimes it’s worth it to literally have your first slide be a single question, or start with some background music, or have a slide be title slide + thought starter related to topic Likewise, if you need feedback, you can build in structure to your presentation to solicit it. Where are the natural pauses where you’d want comments? *Stop* there, literally throw in a blank slide or stop screen sharing so you can see everyone’s faces and say, “...before I continue, I’d love to hear your thoughts on X. Phil, let’s start with you?”

Our in-house creative team got our hands slapped for not inviting more members of the marketing team to a creative presentation. The creative needed quick approval to be executed properly within a tight timeline and the members of the marketing team who were not invited did not have a specific role/task on the creative project. Why does it seem like the creative team always has to do a full on talent show every presentation but no other arm of the marketing team does? Thoughts?

Looking to plan a family resort getaway next spring. Will be first trip/legit vacation in two+ years by that point. May bring our nanny with us to help with our three young kids so we can relax some too. What do you consider reasonable cost for a ~4 day nice resort getaway (with airfare) for family of five + nanny? I know an Airbnb is cheaper but we’re looking to feel a little spoiled. My quick research is something like $5-10k… is that nuts for a four day vacation?

I’m an internal corp recruiter. While I love my company and the people I work with, I yearn to travel and work remotely in Costa Rica for a year. I have noticed that most companies will only hire remote recruiters if they live in the states. I currently live in California and well into 6 figures but live paycheck to paycheck. This would go way way further in Costa Rica and quality of life would prob be better too. Does anyone know of any companies that are ok with remote int recruiters?
