Does anyone else find the AP title a little bit ridiculous? You’re a Principal, you’re about as ‘Partner’ as a you are a Manager

Titles are meaningless between firms. Who cares 🤷🏾‍♂️

You’re saying it wrong.

Then Principal means something different at your firm. At PwC, Principal means equity partner without a CPA.

Titles are not standardized across firms. Principal means different things, director means different things, managing director means different things, vice president means different things, and so on. As far as I'm concerned, it's an utterly pointless thing to get upset about. 🤷‍♂️

I always laugh when I see someone, who is most likely at a Big 4 and is in fact a Senior Manager, on LinkedIn with the title of “Associate Partner”. There is no such title in any strategy arm of any Big 4. It is obvious that the person not only wants to depict a flawed higher level of prestige and power, but also is attempting to compare themselves to individuals at MBB, which do use the title.

Director is more impressive than a SM, so I’m not following you there

Associate Partner? Does it just mean first 1-3 years?

I stand corrected

McKinsey created that title to make it seem like the path to partnership was even quicker than its competitors- which it already was tbh. Just a marketing tactic for undergrads

Fishies, I need your help. I received an offer for $160k from guidehouse. I’m currently paid $133k at EY. I don’t particularly love my practice as it is testing and the new practice with guidehouse would be IT strategy. EY has gotten me comfortable with the reimbursement for fitness, phone and internet and the promises from Kelly Grier of “really good bonuses and raises” this year. What would you do?

College student here. I was curious as to McK’s undergrad hiring process. I see that it seems they want you to indicate a preference for a specific practice area (such as Ops or Corp Fin),...(cont.)
