Does anyone else get annoyed when non lawyers (who aren’t even well informed) have really strong opinions about SCOTUS Justices? I’ve seen people who aren’t educated at all say that justices they don’t like are stupid and unqualified, it’s pretty ridiculous 🙄

Not really. SCOTUS justices affect their lives just as much as they do us lawyers, so I expect people to have strong opinions about them. I'm also not particularly protective of the justices so I don't care much what people think about them.

I feel that way about politics in general. I was a political science major and I still am not as informed as I should be.

I’m not sure I understand what annoys you. Non lawyers having opinions or uneducated people having opinions?

I mean, if the nonlawyers you’re referring to are essentially arguing that SCOTUS is increasingly basing its decisions on political whims rather than facts or sound legal reasoning, then they have a point. Credentials don’t negate that.

like

Lol OP. Non lawyers are non lawyers. That means they will have opinions that they can’t support with anything substantive and won’t feel the need to. You’re asking them to think like a lawyer. That thing that we all wasted significant money and three years of our lives on.

Is anybody else staying in a toxic job/culture to build their resiliency or prove something to themselves?

Started new job (post-consulting) a year back and have seen little concern for people, constant leadership bullying, and demoralized colleagues.

However, at times in career I have felt too “soft” - not great with confrontation & only thrive in friendly environments. Is there logic in staying to build resiliency? (Or perhaps I should lower my expectation of humanity in business?)
