I just turn off the noise. I had a boss who used to text me at all hours and the default iphone noise gave me sky high anxiety. If I need to hear the ping, I'll change the noise to something I'm not used to
Everyday. For me it’s not just a matter of PTO. It’s feeling never in control of professional life. The upside of WFH is that I can actually scream which helps
Take some PTO. Seriously, being stressed out all the time isn’t worth it. Take a step back and come back after you unwind
I definitely agree and have done this, but I find it to be a temporary bandaid because the feeling returns a week later. I also experience guilt by taking too much PTO (even though it’s not much at all).
Put yourself on DND so you don’t get any notifications nor pings and only check your emails at set time intervals - once you think about the average waiting time you sit through for people to respond to your own emails, you realise there is no rush to respond. Also, if a matter of life or death, they’ll ring your mobile: till that happens, it’s all cool
What helped me a bit was to turn off all notifications and to batch emails. I always tell my colleagues I do so and have fixed times for mails in the morning, after lunch and in the evening. Out of this scheduled mail times I don’t check my inbox.
I’ll be in the other room resting and hear the outlook new mail notification and end up dropping what I’m doing to see if it’s something urgent. Not a great idea
Exactly! Totally relatable.
I dont have an answer but same boat. This is staring to haunt me.
