As long as I’m paid my day rate you can call me whatever you want. Just don’t call me Shirley.
Mentor
Odds are it’s an internal budgetary thing. Don’t worry, CD. You’re still a CD.
Lol
I could care less. Part of the reason why I went freelance was b/c I didn’t want to get hung up on titles and competition for promotion within my dept. I just want to do the work.
As long as there is green attached to it, then it’s all good. I’m freelance with an in house CD who’s not really that title (just couldn’t cut it at his agency so went brand side). I let him feel like a big dawg and then slap him with those invoices. You know your worth and capabilities. That all that matters.
I get weird for other teams, if that makes sense. For ex, I will often be working on a project alongside CD teams that have 15+ years experience and feel weird when they’re clearly much more capable/talented than myself and the CDs running the project. Especially when I see them try to shrink themselves in reviews or defer to the leads and it’s like too late, we all want to know what you have to say.
Only when they try to make it affect my rate.
I don’t care as long as I get paid my rate. I work both senior and ACD gigs and I’m not really picky. But my current gig, my email sig just says copywriter and my partner talks down to me all the time, so that’s annoying. But that’s more a reflection of her than of me.
YES
Yes I was a freelancing CD and was called a “Creative Lead” in front of other CDs 😑
Don’t care as long as they pay my rate lol it’s totally just a paper work thing for them on how they bill the client
This is in no way a reflection of your capabilities or what we think of you
As long as the check clears they can call me anything they want.
