Plan can often be a stretch goal. It is often only 1 metric If you are growing, growing at a good clip, out performed prior year - then even if you don’t meet plan, your fine.
Oh, but yes, We definitely blame the staff if we don’t meet plan. It is clearly their fault
What is frustrating is when “sorry guys, we didn’t make plan” is the excuse for low comp if plan is supposed to be a stretch goal.

I mean come on people. Do the partners honestly think they’re going to meet plan when they say they want to grow 12% but then only grow 8%? Should we as staff be penalized for “not meeting plan”? Do you think they giggle around a table together when they set plan?
Hello. You’ve all been working hard. Reviews are coming. Now they start the “missing plan song” to set lower expectations for lowers salary increases and bonuses. Don’t fall for it. Actually. For those of you in audit, tax of public company look at the proxy to see how much the actual audit / tax fees are.
