Yeah. Some of my managers don’t do shit when they work from home so whenever we ask they automatically assume it means we’re not going to do shit either
I get A LOT more done too. It’s a shame cause it could go a long way for morale.
Come to Crowe. We have a very liberal WFH policy. Basically as long as you are getting your work done and not hindering anyone else from getting their work done by working remotely then they don't care where you work.
Adding to this, my boss acts like its criminal for us to WFH, even if we are sick and simply trying to meet deadlines... we use Citrix and I’m pretty sure all of our activity is closely monitored. If this is the norm, then what gives?
OP - I think Crowe's DTLA office is new and pretty small. I think the Sherman Oaks office is much bigger.
Crowe 1 - I just noticed you have an office in DTLA like a mile from where I live. I’m used to commuting 3 hours a day to century city and it’s tough, to say the least. Thanks for the tip!
Our productivity percentage is monitored pretty closely, so we can’t really get away with not doing shit (maybe our managers can, idk). Sucks that the whole “guilty minds, guilty projections” thing applies to this. I can get so much more done at home than in the office. But also like, this just makes me want to use my pto next time instead and just miss the deadline 🤷🏻♀️😑 Sucks
OP... you need to figure out how a specific office is... things depend on the managing partner and whoever else you work with. Yes, Crowe has a very flexible wfh policy. I've been pretty much working from home consistently 2 days a week, cutting 2 hr commute and definitely being more productive and better rested (since I don't spend 1 hr getting ready in the am). This has been the only way I managed to see my kid during the week throughout busy season. The Crowe CEO has been known to be open, to encourage flexibility, and often says "you can be in Starbucks with your laptop, if the work gets done". However, we have older partners, directors and even some sm who expect people in the office at all times. I've just received a yearly review with some negative feedback related to my wfh habits... sooo... there's no guarantee that a flexible firm will always mean a flexible schedule for you. I will still use the flexibility that Crowe offers, since this is one of the few reasons why I'm still with the firm. Once this doesn't exist or I'm directly required to be in the office, I will probably jump. There are other PA firms that promote flexibility. Look around and check the specific office and its leadership.
I'm in forensics and work remote 100%. Can't speak for managers/partners who don't like WFH but in my experience it's worked out so much better than I'd hoped, so there are firms out there that don't freak out over WFH.
I work from home a lot as well, but make time for face time at the office as well. Out DTLA office is leased space, and we use it on an as needed basis.
Its questionable with newer staff more times than not because for whatever reason they tend to forget the working part of the phrase.
I’ve been with this company for three years. It was a partner who granted me WFH permission/access for a time-sensitive case that I’m still assigned to. My manager, however, has a personal aggression with regards to anyone working from home, despite the partner’s permission. I found out today that the manager giving me grief yesterday pretty much told everyone in my department that I “took it upon myself” to work from home (I absolutely didn’t, she approved it at 7am when I called in sick, after the partner emailed me that we had a hard deadline at 3pm), and that she felt it was unfair to everyone else that I have access from home while they do not. I thought it was pretty unprofessional and petty and am opting to pretend I didn’t hear any of it. I believe HR would side with my manager, so I’m keeping my head down and looking for a new place that isn’t as toxic.
