No joke just got this as a notification and had to jump in. I moved from a large metro city in the northeast to a ski town in the Midwest to work as an accountant and financial analyst for a local municipalities enterprise fund and let me tell you it is great!! The work is consistent and challenging, the benefits are amazing and I’m out the door at 4PM every single night with weekend off. Def consider it.

I’m starting to. I’d honestly take a decent pay cut to say goodbye to working 7 days a week for a good chunk of the year, and go to a gov job working less than 2,000 hours a year.

Is it easy to get a job in government in a big city (ex NYC)? I only see postings for entry level auditors, and nothing for experienced or non-audit positions

Benefits are great but the pay is significantly lower

What company is that @Deloitte 1?

I am definitely considering it as well. Most of the positions I looked at require 3 years of work experience so I’m stuck for another year...

I started in govt. Jumped to public. Hated it. returned to govt. Took a bit of a pay cut but work is fairly easy and stress free. Plus tons of time off and a pension.

Any recommendations on how to get into government accounting work? Very interested in this path.

Just find a job you're interested in and apply online. If you have big 4 experience - I don't think it would be difficult to break in.

Though I may have limited experience, I have a BS in Business Administration. I am currently getting a certificate in Data analytics, and I am teaching myself SQL and Python.

What else could I do to make resume stand out more? What could I expect as a starting salary? Are there options to wfh?
