All the time. And use them as evidence when client feigns recollection of decisions
My team keeps a shared one note to and collectively records notes from all mtgs- helps us stay updated in real-time throughout the day. We have a simple color coding system for highlighting risks/issues/questions that need urgent resolution. There is an expectation that everyone is scanning/glancing the day’s onenote every day - it’s been a game changer for efficiency, staying on the same page (pun intended) and our ability to trust each other to take mtgs solo on behalf of the team
This is a great idea. Good look d1
Also, when you walk into a client meeting, and they happen to see that you have the meeting notes in front of you with highlights and notes in the margin, they get a bit more serious and respectful of your team. That’s key. You don’t even have to reference the notes doc directly. I just keep it visibly in front of me, because my clients haven’t even looked at the document approximately 90% of the time.
There is no substitute for doing your homework
I read them, mark them up, and ask questions of the client to be sure THEY know what happened, because my team definitely does. They’re accountable, and I need to look out for them, so I read all of them. Takes no time at all - but missing something important is time consuming and expensive.
Why does it take so long to write them down? For us they are very helpful to forward to anyone who was unable to attend the meeting. Additionally, it’s a helpful refresher to review what happened in the last meeting.
Absolutely. Not every one, but the value they save are very worth their cost
Bring your laptop to meetings and use Onenote
It's to help provide context when we are no longer there to provide value.
It’s both. But it’s basically to show the client you listen to them. In the event it is high stakes, it is CYA
They’re valuable...for the sake of having Next Steps/Actions...so I scroll to that part😉
Good meeting notes are priceless. It’s like insurance, you may not always use it but if you don’t have it when you need it, it fucks you
I forget details a week later. Notes are helpful for that....
they're the most important of CYAs. ultimately itd be more costly not to have that CYA.
