Does anyone feel like PA has made them more of an introvert and less outgoing? I’ve had some rough clients and higher ups over the years that have caused my confidence level to go down. In addition I feel numb with the amount of work and things I have to deal with on a daily basis. Maybe it’s Covid related with the wfh environment but its definitely a struggle. Has anyone else experienced this or something similar?

Yes completely, I relate to everything you said. I’ve noticed I’m a lot more introverted and numb to the amount of work I do. Like I can work 70-80 hour weeks and be completely unphased, it’s honestly a little scary. I’ve also had some upper level managers/directors just be very cruel and I think that’s added to it. Just know you’re not alone and hang in there!

I definitely saw my happiness and outgoing nature repressed, and started to be more negative and less excited to go out and socialize with my friends, over the course of the five years I spent in public accounting. I didn't hate the job all of the time, but over time I hated it more and more until eventually I was ready to get the heck out of there.

This was all pre-covid but your feelings are still relatable. I think covid might just exaggerate some of the misery

I’m definitely too tired to socialize after work or on the weekends after working really long hours and have noticed even when I do attend social events that they are mentally draining now.

I’ve also noticed that I no longer smile when presenting even for organizations or topics that I’m passionate about. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes, I work with a male Director and SM who are so anal about stupid things it makes me second guess every decision I make. I asked the staff to do something and got an IM from one of the seniors that SM asked them to do it this way. It’s made me really apathetic about this engagement.

Has anyone here tried to pursue a career in trading/investing and failed? How’d you bounce back and did you go back to full time work? I made a large amount in the 2021 bull run and decided to resign from an audit career I wasn’t passionate about and got roughed up in the 2022 bear market. I learned so much and feel very optimistic about a 2023-2024 bull run. However, I think I could’ve just swing traded had I had a career I actually enjoyed and want to go back and pursue Senior FA remote job

This year’s ROMBA felt underwhelming. Partying was ok, per usual, but the conference itself felt blah. Panels were mediocre, corporate events were cheap-ish, there weren’t enough senior people. Even hooking up was just twinks on twinks on twinks mostly (not into them, so choices were very limited). Is it post-covid, corporate cost cuts or something else?

While most teachers are protected by teacher unions, I feel my voice hasn’t been heard at all with my concerns of going back to school next week. Our diocese has decided on full return 5 days/ week for all 42 schools despite a recent increase in COVID in our communities. Every other school that I know of in my state is either choosing remote learning to start the year or a hybrid approach, yet that was not an option for us. Are other Catholic schools I. The same boat? Stay safe!

Is it common to have to follow-up with a recruiter consistently in order to move to the next steps in an interview process? I'm interviewing with a company for a remote customer success position, and it's a 4-interview process. I have 1 final panel interview. The people I've been interviewing with have been great, and the recruiter is very positive, however it feels like things are dragging out here towards the end, and I've been following up/prompting for next steps. Is this a red flag?

Have a somewhat confusing question hoping to get some insight. I had to cancel a Southwest flight last year due to covid. They issued a credit but informed me I had to book a flight that was before 9/22/21 or the credit would be lost. Here’s my question: if I book the flight so it is before the 22nd and use the credit to pay for it, if I decide to change flight dates to after 9/22 would that transfer over? Or would I have to forfeit the credit and pay for the flight. Hope this makes sense!

Left PA and started industry remotely. Haven’t been in the office. Met my team one time. Tips are to always be on video for even the smallest of calls. Take a ridiculous amount of notes. In downtime, go through your notes and come up with questions by reperforming old work. Set up recurring question sessions with your team so you know what to do next time. Set up performance meetings even monthly because it’s hard to get a gauge on your performance

Have had a lack of interest now for a couple months. Just generally not interested in anything going on at work. Part of it is some new initiatives and new leadership - and I am just not drinking the kool aid. It is hard only having one client sometimes. There’s no escape. Does anyone else who came from a busy private practice with dozens of clients ever feel burnt out from dealing with the same people day in and day out? The same people are always making trouble. It’s just getting old.
