Does anyone find consulting unbelievably frustrating due to not being able to have a set schedule week to week?

It’s so hard to create a schedule when you have no idea whether you’ll be flying or working from home or going into the home office until maybe a few days in advance (if you’re lucky)

Posting here because I’m looking for something more predictable even if the hours still aren’t the best.

Joining a big firm next week as fully remote lateral and flying out to home office for orientation. The schedule has me in office until 4:15. I’ve already been told I won’t have any actual work. Depending on how many people are there and how it feels, I was planning to stay an hour extra but should I hang around the office until later? First time visiting this city so it’d be great to take in some sights too (although that’s not a priority of course).

I want to dispose my office chair and i live in Newton. Anyone knows if i can leave it curbside or where i can check for the details?

What monitors would you recommend for home office? I am about to buy one myself. I work in FDD. Do you guys recommend the ultra wide? Curve screen? freesync?And what definition is good enough ? I really do love Apple Retina display but the price.

My home office is NY but I live in NJ and I’m filing taxes in multiple states that I worked in this year. On my W2 federal wages are the same as NY state wages, how do I track down my New York w2 wages without access to my detailed timesheets? Can I just subtract my total wages from the state wages from my W2 of the other states I’ve worked in?

I accepted a role in New York City but my direct manager said I can work from home in Boston instead. My understanding is that I would be paying NY taxes, but not MA taxes. Can anyone here confirm? I wanted to reschedule my hiring manager screen this week because I tested positive for covid and feeling sick with symptoms. Here is my idea for a startup! I collect all the data from career transitions and use Data Analytics to predict the most likely career transitions. I could start with consulting. What do you guys think about this? I would be able to predict based on your firm(mbb, big4), your experience, which role you are likely to move (Faang pm, strategy manager, move to mbb).
