Hi everyone, currently I work within an internal consulting space, but aiming to transition into an external consulting role. I have an interview for Deloitte coming up. Any advice for the case study? I am interviewing for the Human Capital Consultant role.
Also, open to any referrals one can give to any other external consulting firms hiring!

I’ve been watching her videos during my job search and she’s great! I bombed my first interview, did ok on a second and have a third tomorrow (all with different employers.) I swear it’s all about practice!
Yup sounds like you're talking about me. Resume gets you in but its up to you to sell yourself. Still working at it
You have to connect with the interviewer to move through. Try to be friendly but professional. I got this tip from a professional career coach…look up the person’s LinkedIn and print their picture. Tape the picture on your computer and practice interviewing/talking to the picture for a few days prior to interview. You’d be so comfortable talking to this person by the time the real interview rolls in. Good luck!
Same here, got one wonderful opportunity that I would’ve gotten after 5-6 years right after graduating but couldn’t sell myself properly due to extreme nervousness and pressure to make it to final round.
I know this... Only suggestion don't think about the result of the interview. It's a discussion and you are sharing experiences with him/her/them. This technique helped me. I am also keen to note down few pointers on this issue if someone can share.
I have a list of standard behavioral questions for interviews. Then I look at the job description and see if there are any out of the box questions I think they will ask. Then I create 2-3 answers for each one in a “STAR” answering method. That is what the person interviewing is looking for S- Situation T- Task A Action R Result. Most of those questions can be answered in 5-6 sentences and be very strong answers if you know how to respond.
I would ask the recruiters for feedback. It’ll help you improve moving forward
A lot of big companies don’t provide feedback or can not provide feedback which is super stressful!
The book 60 Seconds and your Hired by Robin Ryan helped me tremendously. I used to be a nervous wreck when I would interview because I wasn't too sure if was answering their questions correctly. I was able to cut out all the fluff because it even helps you by giving examples that you can tailor to your experience. SUPER quick and easy read too!
This is me. Currently I don't have tangible job , gets interview but can't scale through. Also I have a loud tone, so when am explaining myself with tension.... oh dear! Is something else.
Interviews for the right role on the right team will feel better. Best of luck!
I listened to The Art of the Interview hoping for good advice. I really credit that book for helping me get the job.
Who’s the author, please?
Me -100%
I had a similar issue. Some of it is hard because of consulting experiences. You have tons of experience all over the place but not much in terms of owning stuff end to end in a valuable way for a non consulting organization. You can show all the growth, delivery and sales in the world but if you can’t show how you impacted a clients outcomes directly it’s very difficult.
Sometimes using the team as a resource, if it’s an option, just to make sure you are on the right track helps and your showing initiative. Like ask clarifying questions or just to do a dry run, it will help you be more confident if you’re having to do a presentation. Also the hiring manager usually knows more than the recruiter so try to use them to your advantage.
