Seconded! Though, our attendance rates doubled when we hosted on a Saturday instead of during the week.

Indeed resume database is a good resource; once you've got a lead though you really have to move quickly.

i would try some facebook groups like plumbers in the “area name” etc and also contacting trade schools

This is what I would do. Go to the local networks. You'll find them.

We've done Craigslist job ads and they've been decently successful.

Craigslist is good, local bulletins and newspapers are also good. Posting targeted facebook ads also helps

Indeed, Facebook, Craigslist

I’ve been watching re runs of SATC during the lockdown. I used to like this show but recently have found how dumb and demeaning the dialogues and story line is. Like when Carrie is dating a politician and asks her friends to vote for him “because I’m sleeping with him”. They sound so nagging and so brain dead. Funny how I didn’t think that 20 years ago

Hot take. Cut all welfare programs. Take the budget from the programs and give them as monthly cash transfers for All US citizens (with minor tweaks depending on number of dependents). Benefit paid out would be higher than the existing programs as we cut administrative costs and don't have to spend anything on figuring out who qualifies. If it bothers you that rich people would get this, then raise income tax on the highest bracket by 1%.

How to know my office location for J.P Morgan.
I know i have to be in Bangalore but how do I know the address?

I interviewed today for a new role, walked into the building, and thought the managers looked a little young. The two managers I would be reporting to are 24 and 27...I am in my late 30s, and I don't know if I can handle working for people 10 years or more younger than I am. How do people manage to work for people with so little life experience?

Has anyone self- trained for SPHR or SHRM? Without purchasing the SHRM study guide? How did you decide between SPHR or SHRM SCP?

I'm working in a company that I like, but I'm been quite underpaid. We recruited a new recruiter with a salary 25% more than the one I'm in. I've been approached by other companies, but I wouldn't like to leave, the only reason I would consider moving to a new job is the salary. Should I be open and discuss it with my LM? The formal salary review process is approaching in 2 months, but no way I could get a good salary increase in the formal process, I believe the max could be 6%-7%.

Anyone else hit a point where you were ready to leave the HR world too? I did… I acted. Sooo glad. I feel relief, freedom, excitement again! Resigned from an upper level mgmt role last month. Burned out, miss being independent and tired of the HR industry stigma and lack of appreciation at my company.
So I’m leaving it & going into an industry that allows me to be 100% remote, earn 3-5x as much and help others do the same.
Anyone else make this shift or choose self emp?

I've been in PeopleOps (mostly focused on TA Ops) for over 9 years now. I've somehow gotten by without a degree in HR or a certification, but would like to get some more education to continue to advance my career. What are your thoughts on PHR vs SPHR vs SHRM for someone with my years of experience and current role as a manager?

HR / Recruiters specifically - can you guys just please try to be honest with candidates and say its going to be a while before they hear back!! I dont know whats going on but interviewing with several major companies and having to chase down recruiters all day after they say they will follow/up on this or that day and then I dont hear from them for 3-4 days. I am trying to time my interviews/potential offers but they keep getting promises of follow-up on next steps and not hearing back

Know someone earlier in their HR career that’s looking to get certified. It’s been a while since I originally took the exams and have just recertified since. Which is more valuable or preferred these days…PHR or SHRM-CP?

Are recruiters worth more than L&D specialists? We have a new recuiter that transferred in from another dept. & is already making more than me and has a higher comp range. We have same tenure & they have NO prev. recuiting experience. I should also add I have been helping cover recuiting in interim. I also help cover HR tasks, have my SHRM, 5 years of HR exp., and 2 degrees. Is the "value" for recruiters more than L&D? I feel a little taken advantage of, but want to know if I'm off base here.

First time poster here!

After spending 4 years as a mid-level ops manager, I tried to break into HR through talent acquisition. Now after 6 years in TA, I've had a hard time getting out of it. My goal was always to get into a more broad HRBP position, but I've since worked for smaller orgs without a solid HR career path. When I ask about my career goals, they keep telling me, "Soon!" Or "Maybe in 6 months!"

I'm testing SPHR in June. Any advice for securing the type of role I'm aiming for?

I’m in a rather peculiar situation. I have been in the HR field going on 4 years, I have over 11 years of management experience, I got my PHR last year and I recently graduated with my MBA with a concentration in HR this month. I am ready for a more challenging role. However, there doesn’t seem to be much available at my current company. However, I am going on 5 months pregnant with the expectation of being out in October. I feel like once I mentioned my pregnancy I was in a holding pattern.

Hi everyone! Just looking for some insight. I’m about 4 years into HR, have my bachelors. I’ve been toying around with the idea of getting my masters in something relating to compliance/labor law and that side of HR. Shrm certification is also on my list. If anyone has some advice on what to get a masters in specifically, I’d be open to suggestions! I’m trying to find something that would be worth my while and would give me a step up. Thanks!

Hi everyone! I think I’m going to get a job offer for a TA Sourcer. Originally I said my salary expectations were 60-70k, I’m in the Midwest with 1.5 years of smaller volume sourcing experience. Is that a good number? Or is that too high? Too low?

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks
