We’ve encouraged those who can to work from home as much as possible but we are not shutting down the office. Our files are electronic and a lot of attorneys work from home anyway so it’s not a major disruption for us. We’ve also added extra stock of disinfectants and hand sanitizers, and have asked people when they do come into the office to limit interaction with others, wash hands frequently and basically follow the CDC’s advice. We’re in an area where there have been documented cases.

I was able to be a part of developing a crisis operations plan when I worked in local government and it was an interesting process. Each department had to identify what its most critical functions were, what was needed to keep them going, and what tasks could be delayed. Imagine it would be helpful for law firms to look at things this way rather than just expecting everything to be able to continue to run full speed remotely.

And everyone should also be taking a harder look at what their office cleaning procedures actually entail. I don’t think my desk, mouse, keyboard, etc would ever be cleaned if not for my own efforts.

Smaller firm here...communal e-mail with lots of buzzwords like “Pandemic Continuity Plan” and an emphasis on hand sanitization, i.e complete clusterfudge

Going to my first in-person local networking event since covid after work today. I’m worried I forgot how to be a human in public over the past 18 months. Used to be relatively good at working a room (for someone who codes) but it was a skill I worked at for years before the pandemic hit. Do y’all have any advice?

Hey everyone! Recent transplant (26 F) who moved here during Covid (family reasons) so still not quite familiar with the areas. I’m currently living in Brentwood but looking to move. I’m considering Marina Del Rey as I want to be a bit closer to the office (in Venice) and the airport for when things open back up/travel resumes. I tried searching here but didn’t see a lot - what is the reputation of Mar Vista (and if possible - how is that different than Brentwood?). All opinions welcome! 🙂

Philosophical question (not trying to be political, just a genuine question I’ve been grappling with): do you think being pro-choice and pro-vax mandate are logically inconsistent? Both are sincere views of mine, but upon further reflection I haven’t been able to think of a way one position could be completely defended without undermining the other. Goes the other way for pro life/against vax mandates as well. The fact is, they just feel different to me, but I’m not sure why. Thoughts?

So I've seen a number of articles floating around recently saying all Americans (not just the priority groups) could get the covid-19 vaccines by April. Thoughts on whether that is actually highly likely? I initially thought end of 2021 was more likely, but perhaps I should be more optimistic?

My principal approached me in the car pick up line on Friday to inform me that I’ve taken to many days off & school has just started. I took 1day off when my daughter tested positive for Covid, I had an doctor’s appt that had been scheduled 6 months ago to see the hematologist. Being that I’m anemic, current labs showed I need to have 2 iron infusions. I put in for 2 more days off to have that done. He told me in the future to wait until a work day! We done have any until December!!

A partner at my firm just invited me and my SO to dinner with him, his senior associate, and the senior associate’s SO. I’m fairly new to the firm, but I’m told the partner doesn’t do this often and he’s fairly private about his matters and clients. Could this be a sign he’s bringing me into the fold? Or something else? My apologies in advance for the naïve question. I’ve been to many “get to know you” lunches, but never dinner with spouses.
