Does anyone have a format or a shareable method to review top leadership? I need to review all my Directors and it has never been done but the President wants to review them to determine merit pay this year. So I need a form that they can fill out themselves that encompasses all they do in their individual roles.

I’ve done this a few different ways, and it’s best when combined with 360 feedback. Simple 1 page with answers below the following questions:

1 - what key accomplishments has the executive realized this year?
2 - what personal strengths does the executive demonstrate?
3 - where can the executive further develop or improve?
4 - what is the executive’s potential to take a higher role or more responsibility?

Then a 2x2 matrix with succession readiness of others for the executive’s position in the even he/she leaves or needs to be replaced.

Select a rating - exceeds, meets, does not meet

It’s the kind of layout a board would appreciate and take the time to actually read. Hope this helps.

Do you like 9 box mapping or nah? We find it helpful suplemental to our annual evaluations.

Thank you for sharing. My company is currently using the 9 box but trying to decide on the best way to “restructure” the labels. Would you mind sharing how you all measure potential using the 9 box? Specifically, what labels are being used ? (I.e. at risk, limited, high performer, etc.) I appreciate you!

9 box is the tried and true, and it would require input from their managers. Self reviews are only so useful. You need to do talent reviews with those who manage the Directors and establish exactly who your HiPos are.

That’s the issue. They have no managers. It’s directors then CFO. The CFO doesn’t want to micromanage directors so they will basically be reviewing themselves and submitting it to CFO to read.

Feeling really frustrated @ work. I got my 1st job a few months ago, & while I’m super super grateful...they don’t have me doing anything of importance. I constantly have to ask the project manager for work, & when I am assigned something, it’s design work. Meanwhile, the other juniors here are working on conceptual briefs for big brands. I don’t have a team I’m assigned to nor do I have a partner (which I was told I would have one by the recruiter). CONT...

Or could it because my CTC is too high ?

I had my PHR back in early 2000, then made a career change to a paramedic (I know, right). I called SHRM and they said I'm eligible to test again even though I only currently have 1.5 yrs of HR.

I purchased the online study guide and it seems that HR has gone in a completely different direction - more operations related than employee relations etc.

Did anyone find this online training to be helpful? I test in July, so any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks - lauren

Hello everyone,

I am currently a HR Generalist for a small aerospace company, located in CA. I have been in a generalist role for a little over 4 years now and before that, I did recruiting/safety for about 3 years. I am now looking into getting my HR Certification, but am stuck in between the PHR-CA or the SHRM-CP. Does anyone have any recommendations they can give me?

I have a manager who doesn’t seem to like me very much. Talks to me in a super condescending tone like I wasn’t an experienced hire & know what I’m doing. He will flat out ignore me even on calls when I say hi or good morning.
I’m not sure if it’s because he’s “old school” but once had other team mates in his office (all male) for lunch and didn’t invite me (the only female on this team). I thought I had a super progressive team but every day is telling me that’s not the case.

I am looking to gain certification or other credentialing in diversity and inclusion, not only because it would look good on my resume both for future job-search purposes and also to become better educated in this area, which is growing in importance.
I looked at SHRM's "Inclusive Workplace Culture Specialty Credential" and got a bit of "sticker shock" at the cost - $1,655.00 for members.
Does anyone have other suggestions on training/credentialing in this area?
