Does anyone have advice on pivoting away from hospital administration and into other opportunities within healthcare (i.e. consulting/strategy/program management etc.)? I've been a service line administrator for 3 years and working at a large hospital system for 6 (post MHA) but I'm not getting anywhere when I apply for roles outside of hospital operations. I get called back for other hospital ops roles but I can't even get a phone interview when I branch out...

Project management certification. Perhaps starting with a coursera google project management certification? Allowing more back end improvement. We all know medical processes to support the care is important.

I went from a Revenue Cycle Manager to a Consultant last month. I tweaked my resume to reflect the job postings I was interested in. After 30+ applications and 10+ interviews over a course of a month, I was in!

I’m in the same boat as you right now. Post MBA and hoping to move to project management but can’t seem to branch out. The job market is really tough right now! You pretty much need to know someone who will advocate for you to be hired :/

So fascinating. I would think you'd get snapped up pretty quickly going from a SL admin into something like strategy or project management (all within healtcare ofc). We had someone who was a SL admin who was brought in to be a director of strategy. I would think having operations experience would be a real plus/advantage when trying to go into these other lines of healthcare. I've had experience with all of what you mentioned.

Anyone have any tips for overcoming burnout? I’ve had some toxic work environments over the last 10 years and finally in a company I value with a job I feel valued in. I worked hard to climb the corporate ladder and ended up taking a down level and a slight pay cut to feel happier and I definitely do BUT I still feel the effects of burnout on the daily. I also feel guilty for not feeling more grateful for how good I have it and for lacking motivation. Any advice from others that experience this?

Hello everyone, I have posted before about a situation I am in with a potential employer. I received an offer from a hospital, I accepted it with the director, signed some paperwork for a background check and sent it back. It has been 3 weeks so far, the person I spoke to said HR should’ve sent me consent forms already, I’ve dug through my email and found nothing, I’ve reached out to HR as well but they won’t speak to me since I am not an employee. What do I do? I’m stuck in limbo.

Need advice…Am SVP at small anesthesia company in NC. I have an MHA and 4 years of management experience. I’m currently a manager, but seeking a director level position. Any advice for trying to temper my expectations? I feel like all director level positions have 5 years in the posting, but a lot of my peers with the same experience are already in director level positions. Are they just lucky? Am I jumping the gun? Do I just need to stick it out?

Interviews need to be monitored and recorded. I can’t tell you how many disappointed dreams I have been sold. It is a complete waste of time to really wait around to be wishful of a call. Gathering up 10 potential applicants to narrow it down to a top 3 and only make one offer is not acceptable. Much like jury duty, applicants should be compensated for their time.
