Does anyone have any advice on owning an A5. I am planning on getting one and wondering if it makes sense on getting tire insurance or Audi care or something. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

The Audi is more of a drivers car. Lexus tries their best to compete with BMW, Audi and Merc but they really can't other than the fact that they're more reliable. It's hard to beat the luxury, performance and tuneability of a German car.

Thanks guys for all the input. Personally I like the shape of A5 a lot better. But yes, I think from a value perspective, Lexus might be better. Having said that, my mind is made up. In terms of color and options, black on black with premium plus package, tech and sports package, B&O sound with S-line.

like

I had the exact same build OP- with the exception of the tech package. I had frosted black wheels too, looked like the batmobile 😭

like

OP I sure hope you live in an area with snow because Audis are hella fun in bad conditions

Don't believe the expensive repair bill myth. I've owned two audis, a VW, two bmws, and a Hyundai. The average annual maintenance and repairs on the luxury cars ran about $400 more than the economy cars. That is a very minor amount.

like

Thanks guys for the vote of confidence. @PwC2 - fair comparison and I think I can handle that kind of a difference. @BDO1 - love the batmobile ref and the tinted windows is a great idea. That would be Bad Ass!

What color combo/options are you getting?

^ I wouldn't buy a Lexus over an Audi. Driven both and love the Audi engine and smooth drive a lot better. If $$ is a bigger consideration than driving experience, sure!

^ Driven both as well. Beg to differ. http://www.autotrader.com/car-reviews/2015-lexus-rc-vs-2015-audi-a5-which-is-better-240890

I leased an A5 back in 09. I live in NY so I got the tire protection plan, worth every penny. The low profile tires got destroyed and it paid for itself. I'm not sure I'd ever buy one as others said repairs are expensive AF. Rather just lease it and get a new one in 3 years. Amazing car though, one of the most beautiful cars in its class

Thanks guys for your input. @BDO1 - I too am I. The NYC area, so will definitely get the tire insurance. As for the repairs, I have it CPO so, have a bit of extra warranty, but yes, am concerned about the repairs. Let's see how it goes.

Second the tire insurance. I had Audi care for the first 4 years but it wasn't worth the $$. Great car, 4+ years and still a smooth ride! Enjoy!

Are try looking at a new A5? I bought an S3 back in April and the only thing I got was Audi Care because you save about 30% on your routine maintenance over 4 years. I have 19" wheels and occasionally worry about bending one but $700 for one wheel was cheaper than the wheel/tire protection package. Just avoid pot holes and slow down on poor roads and you'll be fine as Audi wheels are pretty damn strong.

Are you set on the A5? If not, I suggest looking at the RC350. You won't spend anywhere near what you would have to on repairs with the Audi and this car looks better in my opinion. I bought a new 2009 ES350 and put 100K miles on it and not a single problem except for an O2 sensor which was covered by warranty. Ride is still smooth like butter.
