Does anyone have any ideas on how I can help my executive manage their inbox? I assume trashing spam emails and flagging important ones, but any other ideas in terms of folder management, etc?

A couple of ways I've been able to do this successfully is to first recognize what your executive currently has in place (perhaps nothing) then start with simple changes. Some examples are (1) creating a maximum of 3 folders Urgent/Decision Required, Important/less urgent, Other.. (2) if your exec is a little more tech savvy, connect other tools such as onenote/Evernote/notability/etc. - you can have a shared notebook with different tabs and organize it electronically, even automate some of the functions. (3) institute the 4Ds, Do it, Delegate it, Delay it, Dump it. This system is life changing and I've been able to go from over 1000 unread emails to less than 10 a day. Good luck

I created sub-folders - for stuff that doesn't require a response - different newsletters, travel, etc. That can clear out a lot of clutter. I only leave items she needs to see. If I see something that requires her urgent attention I let her know.

I love setting up auto filtering rules and also having reminders where if they haven’t responded to something it bumps back up. The latter really only works well in Google though :/ we migrated to outlook a couple years ago and I had to redo everything LOL

To be clear - I googled this first and have come up with some good ideas from the internet, but would also move to hear if anyone has any systems in place that work particularly well. Thanks in advance!

If you have to help your executive.... Need I say more!

Newbie here, what’s a good credit card for travel. Starting new job that requires a bit of travel and I’ll be expensing it / being reimbursed. I know I’ll eventually want to get Pre-check. From what I could found it looks like Amex Platinum, chase sapphire or platinum and or the capital one venture card would be my best option. Anyone have personal experience with these cards? Pros and cons

How do rate locks work? I’m in NJ and I’m finding it so difficult to understand their fine print. No lender locks a rate here unless you have an accepted contract and further if that contract fails to close the rate lock automatically expires. I keep hearing so many folks saying they have a rate lock when I go check out open houses and I wonder how did they manage that?

Anyone else ever told that you go “too above and beyond” for your customers? For example, I deal with a lot of returns and repairs and sometimes customers don’t have their order information. I offer to help them find it with just some supplemental info. Could take anywhere from an extra 5 to 25 min of digging, depending on what info they can provide. Direct manager? Doesn’t care. Her boss however, made that comment this morning when asked about my daily productivity.

Additional Posts in EAs / Executive Assistants

Hi! Is anyone using Microsoft Teams functionality with an Admin team specifically? Looking for some good use cases of anyone has any.

Does anyone know how to get your foot in the door at a larger company as an EA? I have worked over 15 yrs at a CPA firm with 2 partners and I'm trying to change industry but one recruiter told me that they wanted someone with C Suite experience. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Another Hump Day!!!

Remote EA role (just one day in office per month in NYC) supporting CEO. Regular 9-5 type of role, no weekends.
$135k/yearly, no bonus.
EduTech company

PM me with a blurb about yourself, why you’re looking, and what you’re looking for in your next role.

Why does it take some EA’s days/weeks to reply to a simple email, with follow up emails? I understand being busy, but how can you neglect a core part of your role?

Saw this on LinkedIn and had to share. Would you take a job with compensation like this? Why, why not? I’m curious.

To me, I think it’s unrealistic to expect someone to work for no cash comp for four months. It’s laughable.

Hello everyone! I’m currently looking for remote EA role. Doesn’t matter what timezone. I’ve supported 6 executives in a VC company with my previous job. Anyone hiring? Thank you!

Looking for feedback: I started a new role as an EA with my same company in Nov 2021 as result of a reorg and the new leader opting to bring their current admin with them. I could have stayed in this org and let them place me with another leader but that would have been a demotion since my leader was the head of that BU before the reorg, so I put my resume out in the company and was selected for the role I’m in now. Now one of the leaders from my old org has (overflow in comments)

New at KPMG, having difficulty formulating these IBOs as an EA. How do you all navigate these goals?

I am just started in to a new position. I got through the onboarding and now I am in training. Now, I will work 2 or 3 jobs to save up for retirement age when we are able to get out and experience our home planet.

My position was eliminated on July 22. I was the sole administrator for the firm and handled many HR duties. Accepted an offer today and start Monday. There IS hope!

what do you use to keep your execs organized. I support 3 execs and since working from home things have gotten much busier and without being there to talk to them, it is all chat or calls when I can get time with them. any and all suggestions would be welcomed. thanks! Happy Friday by the way!

Any Amazon EAs out there? What has been your experience? Is it worth it and is there good mobility from the EA position?

Salary range around the US. I know that the range varies wildly.

Currently in NYC making mid 80s.

Can anyone recommend a resume writer that is not charging hundreds of dollars per hour? Many of the writers I've been finding and interviewing are for more senior level/executive management decision makers. I can't afford to pay $600 to $800 or more for 3 to 4 hours of work to help me craft my resume appropriately. I know it's worth it but those costs are out of my budget.

Is a Chief of Staff role a step up from being a Senior Executive Admin or is the same thing packaged differently?

Any insight on BCG interview process?

What are some subtle red flags to pass on working for a company/team?

One example was a panel of interviewers at a top tech company within FAANG (is it MAANG now?) constantly rubbing their temples in a stressful manner when talking about their day to day… Another was an interviewer telling me that the leader disregards other’s calendars, senior or not, because they should trust that whatever meeting she has is important… so thoughts?
