I feel like I’m not getting enough work and not enough deals as compared to one off assignments. I’ve been making it known that I have capacity and people say they have deals coming up but then don’t follow up. I’m getting frustrated. I feel like I’ve expended my options for people to reach out or talk to. I’m not at ZERO hours but it’s not the kind of work that will give me enough hours and I don’t think other associates are having the same issue.

This is a genuine question for people in Texas: what do you view as the role of state government? I ask because it seems like Texas can’t manage it’s own electrical grid system, yet, I would think this is one of the most fundamental and basic aspects of state government. I don't think I have ever felt so stupid before. My firm recently hired someone who was barred in 2021. I was barred 2019. I took it as I was senior to him and tried to mentor him. Well the joke is on me. Because he worked for the govt for some years before becoming an attorney, they made him a SENIOR associate. He has 0 prior attorney experience. Yet he's a senior. I have no words.
