Second year at lit boutique. Being asked to draft a lot of briefs from scratch. Work product is great but I take way too long. Not necessarily procrastinating. I just struggle to get a flow state. I rewrite the same sentences over and over. Constantly restructure outline. Always stop to check westlaw. I want to just power through a first draft and add cites/revise prose later. But can’t figure out. Flow state only comes when I’m backed against a wall. Currently on medication. Any other tips?

Currently I am in charge of building the onboarding program for my company, so I was curious about everyone's experience with regards to this. I have read through quite a lot of materials online and the majority of the companies don't have a decent or engaging onboarding program.

How does one get over a retraction of offer by employer ?


I’m in a rather peculiar situation. I have been in the HR field going on 4 years, I have over 11 years of management experience, I got my PHR last year and I recently graduated with my MBA with a concentration in HR this month. I am ready for a more challenging role. However, there doesn’t seem to be much available at my current company. However, I am going on 5 months pregnant with the expectation of being out in October. I feel like once I mentioned my pregnancy I was in a holding pattern.


There’s no such thing as a perfect job.

I know there are definitely worse out there so it’s hard to put my foot down and resign, I could just stick it out for a year but am feeling demotivated and too exhausted to do anything else but sleep after hours/weekends. Have you ever started working somewhere and although nothing overtly wrong or terrible about the place / colleagues, it just didn’t feel like the right fit & if so, what did you do?

I recently requested Paid Family Leave. Still waiting for confirmation. But HR sent an email with employee handbook in email and asked to attest the receipt of it. It also talks about Arbitration policy - that nothing in employee handbook is intended to constitute a waiver of my or my firm’s right to compel arbitration of employment related disputes. I am a bit surprised and not sure what’s going on. Could this mean they are trying to let me go?


Hello! I’m looking for study materials for the PHR. Does anyone have recommendations for cost effective resources or perhaps willing to part with your study materials?


I had my PHR back in early 2000, then made a career change to a paramedic (I know, right). I called SHRM and they said I'm eligible to test again even though I only currently have 1.5 yrs of HR.

I purchased the online study guide and it seems that HR has gone in a completely different direction - more operations related than employee relations etc.

Did anyone find this online training to be helpful? I test in July, so any tips would be greatly appreciated!

If you leave a regional brand in retail for a global brand in beverage for growth after there was no clear path of growth in the regional brand and training is a “trial by fire scenario.” Would you return to the regional brand if see a promotion within the same department and your old boss thinks you’d be a good fit or would you stay in you’re new job?
