Does anyone have any tips on how to deal with patronising managers?

It's been going on for weeks now where they don't explain things they need from me properly (they make it seem very small and simple then change the ask later), they give my male counterpart better opportunities and briefs, they grill me on how exactly I spend my time daily.

I know it's not the end of the world but it's causing me stress and work crying which I never did before.

Well, tbh they may not know what they’re doing. If you’re not getting clear direction - start asking more questions to get what you need. This also starts a trail that puts them on the hook (if it’s in writing or done in group meetings). Another option is to find a new job. Your mental health comes first.

I think on the bright side this teaches foresight into solving problems before they happen. If you see they are consistent in calling out the same types of issues, then you can ask a soon as you’re briefed for pov’s on those *types of issues.* You’ll eventually learn to get what you need, unless your manager is truly a blood sucking monster. And if so - find something new. But I will say this, you need to learn to also establish boundaries. Unless you’re literally in production or pitching new business the next morning, you can address eod feedback the next day. Just communicate. “Thanks for all these notes, I see they’re pretty extensive so I’ll put some thought into these first thing tomorrow. Nite”

This is clear misogyny take it to HR. Your managers job is to help you grow and push you to be your best not play favorites and patronize your efforts.

I recently got hike in my current organisation from 5 to 7.5 lpa ctc and in that month itself deloitte is offering me 10.5 fixed 1.5-2 lacs variable on my new ctc. Which is 40 % hike.

What do you think ? I did asked for 60% hike. HR is not listening. I don’t have any other offers as of now.

I received an offer I can’t turn down. My company had a few others leave recently, and my close counterpart is on vacation until October, so the GC and rest of the company will likely be in disarray after I leave.

Any advice on how to put in my 2 weeks? I’d prefer to leave on a good note and not a sour one…

Does your practice group make associates do mock motion arguments every week?! my practice group assigns random motions from old cases that i’ve never worked on for each junior associate to “argue” every week….

I feel like this is a huge waste of billable time, and also patronizing. I understand we need to learn, but why not do mock arguments with our current caseload?! this is abnormal? I think i landed in the wrong firm.

Note: this is non-billable work

I would love some women’s input on this. I work for a fortune 10 company and have been there about 3 years. I am on a team that started as a small group of tenured individuals (about 25) and has doubled in size in the past 2 years. Many people who have been around for 15+ years were promoted solely due to tenure and not based on skill or leadership abilities. New peoples promotions and growth opportunities are looking bleak. Has anyone been in this situation before? How did you deal with it?

Ladies! Where do you find your best clothes for shoot days? I’ve been getting to go on a ton more shoots lately, which has been awesome. But looking to mix it up with some new outfit choices. Specifically, pants I’ll be comfortable in all day with pocket options.

EVP set up spontaneous meeting to have me transfer to our remote team because the west coast team is bloated. I did mention to my boss (who reports to EVP) I wanted to be remote. But now I am starting to think that it’s because I would have otherwise been fired… I m so nervous to talk to her again today. EVP wants to know which career direction I want to take- I want to move to a more creative or research role but I don’t know how honest I can be

I’m gonna be honest. What happened in Las Vegas has gotten to me, far more than other incidents like this (except for Sandy Hook). I haven’t been able to sleep, I’m more paranoid than usual. It’s logical to know where exits are around you, and now I have to look at where I can hide if there’s an active shooter situation? I won’t stop living my life and doing things I enjoy, but it’s so unfair and so devastating that this keeps happening and nothing changes 😞
