Does anyone have any tips / tricks to share regarding outreach to passive finance and accounting candidates to get them interested in a conversation?

I don’t think theres a generic answer.

Be transparent about the position. They’re in finance so provide numbers or data they’ll find useful. Walking away from bonus this year would be a big thing for folks in finance if you have insight into comp and could provide cash flow analysis or info on how to close bonus gaps that will also help.

I recruit for Norwalk, CT it’s a tough market but you could spice up that messaging

It’s almost never been easier to find contacts and get it touch with people. What remains a key skill is the ability to get someone to act - to be a catalyst. Key elements are solid storytelling and the ability to get your potential candidate to see themselves as successful and happy in a new role. As much as we like to think changing jobs is a dispassionate black/white or pro/con decision, the truth is that emotions still drive actions. Create an emotional connection. And yes, this even applies to A&F people (they have emotions too). 😆

Additional Posts in Human Resources

I’m in a rather peculiar situation. I have been in the HR field going on 4 years, I have over 11 years of management experience, I got my PHR last year and I recently graduated with my MBA with a concentration in HR this month. I am ready for a more challenging role. However, there doesn’t seem to be much available at my current company. However, I am going on 5 months pregnant with the expectation of being out in October. I feel like once I mentioned my pregnancy I was in a holding pattern.

I have three years of experience in agency recruiting and HR. I’m currently making 47k as an HR Coordinator. I’m starting to feel bitter that I took a pay cut to transition to HR from agency recruiting so I put myself open to recruiters on LinkedIn and got a Sr Recruiter contract offer with a company that I’m familiar with for $38/hour. I don’t love the company’s culture so I’m going to keep looking but would it be worth leveraging the offer with my current org? I’ve only been there for 7 months

Got offered a role this morning and upon negotiating salary they emailed me an hour later essentially saying thanks but it isn't negotiable and they hope I consider them for future roles.

I don't think I was overzealous or above market in my comp ask... but was told their offer was market rate. Has anyone else had a similar experience recently? I'm still recovering from the whiplash of it all.

Hoping to get my PHR in the next year or so. Outside of employer reimbursement, are there other opportunities for this to get funded? I know SHRM Foundation offers scholarships for the CP, but I am looking for PHR specific help. Thank you! :)

Without looking, I was recently offered a role at another company for about 30% more salary and 10x the amount of stock options, but I have only been at my current employer for less than a year and feel really guilty about leaving so soon into my tenure. My current employer might match salary, but there's no chance the options get matched.

I'm wondering if I should take the new position, even after less than a year at my company? I can't shake my guilt even though it seems like a no-brainer.
