I’m a fan. I’ve worked at a lot of places, it’s miles better than any holding company-owned agency.
Agree.
I love working at Edelman, but agree with the others, your experience will 100% depend on the team you’re on. I’ve worked across 5 accounts in the 4 years I’ve been here and I’ve had one super toxic team account out of the 5. I will say Edelman pays terribly but since you’re coming in as a new hire they’ll probs pay market value
If you value career progression stay away.
As a current employee looking for a new job, this was the sign I needed to confirm I’m doing the right thing 🙌🏼
Stay away. Pay is abysmal once you’re in and forget about raises or promotions being attainable then. It’s toxic. I’m trying to jump ship after being told yet again I won’t be promoted this year because they fear we are headed into a recession. Most managers don’t know Wtf they’re doing or they have no say to even affect how decisions are made. I’m over the excuses and craziness.
E9 Emphasis on most managers don’t know wtf they’re doing. Furthermore, they think they do know and make it hell on earth.
I worked there for 3 years and have nothing good to say. It's worse than your typical agency life - have worked at several agencies and can confidently say things are BAD at Edelman. Run.
Stay strong but don't sacrifice your mental health for a job. Recruiters are well aware that Edelman is a dumpster fire and won't question you leaving in less than a year.
What practice? Like any agency, your experience depends largely on your team and clients. I’ve been here 3 years and I’m happy. I have a great, capable team and love the work I’m doing.
Stay far away unless it’s on the Unilever team 100% of your time.
Don’t

I worked there for five years and have nothing good to say. Lots of bad but it’s been covered. Search Fishbowl.
Don’t do it.
CD1 if you worked in NY health know that you were super loved and it was a loss to the firm when you left. If you weren’t in NY health, the statement still stands, 5 years at Edelman is like 20 years elsewhere and takes a lot of talent to stick it out
You need to get lucky with the right team. I love my manager & am very fortunate to have her.
Very very dependent on your team and manager. It can be grueling here sometimes but I would have left a long time ago if not for the fact I have a manager and team that does their best to look out and advocate for us
Like any big agencies it comes down to team and clients. But also what your goal is? Are you trying to move up and get promoted, then not the best place unless you go all in on the self promotion, ass kissing, playing the politics of making sure the right people like you.
I love it. I've had lots of managers and teams, worked in multiple offices. It is fun, im still learning after many years, there are brilliant people (and quite a few not so brilliant, like everywhere). There are a lot of people who love it here, even while there are lots of people who obviously find it challenging - and I see that internally, as well. But just because perhaps one team isn't right for you or some fishbowlers think something is wrong with that team, certainly doesn't mean the whole agency is a bad place.
My experience has been similar, minus working in multiple offices. Every practice is different and even teams within one practice can be vastly different. I was nervous I made a mistake when I joined 3 years ago after I read fishbowl comments, but I’m thankful that trusted my gut and made my own decision. This has been my favorite stop in my career thus far and I plan to stick around!
Too many managers in leadership positions. Run far far away as quickly as possible.
I'd be happy to refer you to FH! Shoot me a DM!
DM me and I can share your resume. I'm based in NY, but I work with other teams as well. I'm also fully remote.
If you’d like a referral at Sunshine Sach, DM me! We’re hiring for lots of roles in multiple offices. Check it out and let me know!

If you’re an SVP I’d think you have some liberty to set the culture and ways of working with your team. I have been here for 5 years and most of my ups and downs were based on who I was under on my accounts and how anxious or panicky they were. Good leaders who can manage client expectations, keep the team motivated without letting them get caught up in crazy client swirl, are important. Also, it’s rarely mentioned as everyone complains about Edelman’s pay but we have IMO the best agency PTO policy in the game. 25 days for SVP, week of Christmas off, volunteer days, a floating holiday and 10 sick days a year + other time just for Covid, bereavement, elder care. There’s never been a time I wanted to take off and even had to consider my PTO bank. Worth many thousands to me!
Are you coming from a comms background? I came from a creative agency and after a year I’m still pretty lost. The way we operate seems so backwards and we expect everyone to wear so many hats.
The adjustment period is real and I think we can make it smoother, but it has definitely gotten better in the ~5 years I’ve been here.

No, nothing good.

Strong emphasis on ABSOLUTELY NOT
If the overall agency culture was strong, individual experiences wouldn’t be defined by the team you work on. Reading the comments here, I would proceed with caution, especially if you are happy/thriving where you are.
6 years here and love it. (Def didn't at first) Totally depends on team and office!!!
I’m relatively new (and it’s my first agency role) but I am very happy so far.
