Current Big 4 SC with 3 YOE in data security and privacy consulting, CISSP. Microsoft ppl - I would love to become an azure security solution architect at MS. What chances do I have now? If I don’t, what are some practical steps I can take to position myself well (e.g., AZ104, AZ500, etc.)?

This one depends and varies a lot... if you’re highly valued and busy they may keep you to wrap up and transition stuff. There is definitely a chance they terminate immediately even if those are the case.
You should check your management agreement. I think some require longer than a 2 week notice. I am pretty sure one of my agreements did, but it has been a long time. I recommend giving at least a 2 week notice, more if indicated in the management agreement. I left one big four and went to another as a senior manager and expected to be let go immediately and they kept me for 2-3 weeks. I think it is not uncommon for a firm to press someone to start quickly, but a good hire is a good hire whether they start today or in one month. Presumably, you are going there for years, not to get them through one busy season.
I appreciate the reply. I don’t think I ever received a management agreement? Only stuff related to independence. I assume this is something that I would have had to sign and is not implicit in being promoted.
So, I left at the staff level to another big four and then moved back as a senior. When I left I was immediately sent home, but I did get paid for the two weeks and my PTO was paid out. When I came back, I was asked to work the two weeks. I think either way you’ll get paid, but you may or may not have to work the time.
If they don’t pay for your two weeks, I think you can claim unemployment since you are technically being fired, but that’s not much help.
They do pay out your vacation though if that helps. Unless you have unlimited but I think that’s just EY.
