My friend is a 4th year public defender in NYC. T14 grad and easily one of the smartest, most capable attorneys and professionals I know. She finally hit the limit and is looking to pivot out of PD work when she moves to Oregon next year. Does anyone have any experience seeing this PD - private practice transition happen? She’s open to basically anything in the litigation space so long as it pays better. I assume biglaw is off the table given the market, but know she would thrive. Any advice?

Is Product Management a big job market?
I’m currently a sw eng considering transitioning to PM and have a few questions. 1) As a eng, I get solicited job opportunities regularly (getting offers is a different story). Do PM’s also have ample opportunities to hop if desired? Not that I want to be a frequent hopper but it’s more about the breadth of possibilities. 2) I see ads of certifications for PM both from “bootcamp” style schools and traditional universities. Are these helpful or not really?

I have been working as a marketing manager at a tech startup for 5 years and decided it’s time for me to see how other companies are working. I accepted a new job offer (40% salary increase) but the start up is really struggling to find someone to organize their main events. This would only take me max 5hrs/week. I decided to freelance for them as I can use the extra. How much does a campaign/event marketing manager charge per hr. as a freelancer? What is the norm for setting rates?

I am a legal assistant (working on paralegal program), new to the field after a career change. I was let go from my last position for performance issues, although I was the 6th hire for the position in 18 months.
My main question is, how would I explain the situation to potential employers/recruiters so that I don't come across as a poor employee? I don't want to lay the blame on that firm; I gained a lot of skills there, even if it didn't work out
