You might benefit from getting a new credit card that includes credit for global entry. My $95/year United card reimbursed me for it and since you’re taking a trip, you should be able to hit an introductory spending bonus offer that will definitely make it worth it.
I suggest signing up for a global entry appointment in May now as slots are hard to come by and applying for the credit card in April, that way your trip will be within 3 months which is a typical bonus offer period.
For one trip, probably not worth it (especially since you'll wait months for an appointment) but if you fly regularly then the GE/PreCheck combo is definitely worth it. If you don't fly often, or don't have s credit card that will reimburse the fee, consider the Mobile Passport app thing that CBP offers.
I made the mistake of registering for GE a month before my PreCheck expired so now I'm stuck without either while waiting for my application to be approved. I have purchased first class tickets for the sole purpose of bypassing the regular security line at domestic airports.
100% worth it.
PM1, I leave them and meet them at the gate and I already have a coffee in hand
Yes it is. You’ll have pre-check when leaving US so quicker security lines (most times) and then you skip the long immigration line when you’re coming back. It’s been worth it to me traveling out of NYC airports and Atlanta. Plus it’s 5 years.
Yes. Also check your credit cards to see if they offer a credit for it. Delta Amex platinum does

......OP, please check out Mobile Passport Control, and just download the app in your phone. It's FREE and check this out, it goes to the same line as global entry!Assume the port of entry is supported. 😏

Yes, but good luck with an appointment
I got an email recently saying I could interview if going through customs on a return flight. Ironically I had upcoming travel plans so I’ll be going that route vs waiting 2 months for an interview

Lots of yes, but for one trip, I don’t think so. Also depends on the airport you’re coming back to. I’m based in Dallas and most of the time it’s a wash or faster for non-global entry.
If I was based in MIA, with there hundreds of international destinations, you absolutely need it unless you want to wait 2 hours.
Yes
Totally worth it even if it is for the TSA pre-check for virtually all flights, not to say anything about just stopping at the kiosk instead of standing in line for immigration. In addition, certain credit cards reimburse for the fee. But be advised, getting global entry for the first time now takes a very, very long time plus you have to be interviewed. Once you get, renewals are very fast.
I got mine very quickly last summer - approval for the appointment in a week, appointment the following week, card in hand a week after that. But I was flexible and live close enough to the northern New York office to drive there. At that time they were one of only 4 offices doing appointments.
Yes! Saves you time the day you leave the US (TSA pre-check line) and saves you time on the way back to the US (you skip the customs line).
Look at it this way - you’ll get global entry AND tsa pre check for 100 bucks, and it’s good for 5 years. Even if you don’t travel internationally that much, it’s still worth it. If you look at it from an annual perspective, it’s only 20 bucks a year.
Not for just one trip. The majority of the plane can’t figure out the mobile passport app, so if you can, you’ll be ahead of many for free.
Yes, worth it
Have it. Haven't had a chance to use it. Took over a year to get it due to the lack of interview locations/opportunities. Worth it just for the TSA Pre on every domestic ticket tbh.
What has GLOBAL Entry got to do with entering Spain?
Spain is in the EU. GLOBAL Entry is for entering the US!
Yeah, gets you into the no wait, electronic kiosk process on the way back.
Worth it. I would never be able to go back to pre global entry & tsa pre check days.
So worth it. It’s valid for 5 years and includes TSA pre check.
Totally worth it !
Yes 100%
