Hi folks,
I got an offer from Walmart for the Software Engineer III position. My joining date is 8th June. Does the health insurance coverage for the employee and their dependents start on the joining date itself? I will have to use my insurance at the end of June for my wife. It will be less than a month since the joining date, so will it adversely affect in claiming the insurance?

Take more frequent breaks from staring at your screens. Make sure to refocus your eyes where possible.
Blue light glasses are still 50/50 on if they actually do much.
Warby Parker has a good blue light filter on glasses

I had a cheapy pair from Amazon, didn't do much and resulted in the reflection/glare syndrome on the conference calls when I turned my camera on.
I sprung for a stylish Felix Gray pair and it definitely helps with the dry eye as well as a much, much reduced glare on the conference calls.
+1 to the constant breaks. Looking away at far objects always helps the eye relax.
Have you tried anti-fatigue glasses?
Blue light glasses and computer glasses are a scam.

The jury is still out on whether they’re actually effective or not. There’s no clear indication that they’re harmful but there are other more proven ways to help with headaches from staring at a computer. Start with taking more frequent breaks from staring at the screen. Also, good posture makes an enormous difference. A standing desk can help, as long as you’re not slouching. Otherwise, try to keep yourself positioned so that your knees and elbows are at roughly 90 degree angles (which is hard to do, I know). Also, keep your screen at eye level so you’re not straining your neck looking up or down (looking down is generally more comfortable but it’s better to look straight ahead).
None of these are a panacea, but they definitely help. For reference, I suffer from migraines and these are some of the most effective preventative measures I’ve found.
Try using Flux, use eye drops every few hours, and get your eyes tested if you haven’t in a while
+1 on flux, game changer.
Drink more water!
Get up and look away from your computer
Dark mode helps. Also check your posture. I’ve found that hunching impacts my headaches more than eye strain.
+1 on all this. Plus shut off overhead lights from time to time. If you wear prescription glasses, get a spare pair with slight magnification for when your eyes are too tired.
I just got a boosted prescription and it’s a blessing.
Try changing your monitor settings to be more yellow, less blue (night shift if you’re on a Mac)
This is huge, I definitely noticed the difference doing like half strength night mode when working long hours

Get your eyes checked. Throbbing is not a blue light issue.
Your doc can help with exercises for eye strain or give you computer glasses if you need to see better.
Really recommend a checkup here.

Maybe you should get your eyes checked? You might need glasses or a new prescription. I get really bad headaches when I need a new eyeglass prescription.
Try artifical tears too. Man wasn't created to look at a screen for 20 hrs straight.

Yep! That helped me a lot, my eyes thank me for it lol
Get a blue light filter cover for your screen. I put one on my external monitor and it makes a huge difference.
There’s not much science to back up the use of blue light glasses. Anti fatigue glasses are amazing though! I’d suggest a new eye exam and also upgrading your glasses to anti fatigue ones (it was like and extra hundred dollars on Warby Parker for instance). Huge difference. Also try big frames, I find that when I can easily see the edges of my frames it’s more tiring and disorienting. Some good lubricating drops too, I love Systane Balance or TheraTears.
My wife got her glasses from LensCrafters, with the addition of the blue light filter on them. She wouldn’t constantly get headaches when working or using phone, but not anymore. She notices the difference even if she uses her device for a few mins.
There’s a blue light blocker screen you can buy on Amazon to put over your laptop
Zenni is great for inexpensive prescription blue light glasses. I have 3 different pairs to mix up my style and each cost $25-40. But echoing what others said about just letting your eyes take a break too.
I get mine from Eyebuydirect. I don’t need a prescription so I just get the blue light lens and whatever frame. Very easy to exchange by mail if you don’t like the fit fyi
Crizal Prevencia - get this lens and you will be set!!
