Wife is considering quitting her job for 6 months to a year to care full time for our 3.5 and 1.5 year old until COVID settles down. Financially, we can make it work (semi) comfortably on 1 salary. Thoughts / advice from dads who’ve gone through this? Good idea? Live in Chicago.
Remote - global You Need A Budget (YNAB) Data Scientist 3yrs exp. US W2 employees: full Benny's both you and family 5+ weeks PTO. Cross posted from career pivot due to bowl loyalty.
If a firm gives different bonus amounts for district court (ex: 50k) and circuit court (ex: 75k) clerkships is it common to receive both combined (ex: 125k) when you join? Or is it normal to receive some lesser amount?
Bain fish - what is the comp for a consultant at Bain, base + bonus? Does it change by office location? Only looking for US. Thanks in advance
kids aren’t old enough to Learn on their own so we have to help with elearning. 2 full time WFH parents in advertising where our hours are even longer than normal. The teacher emails and asks (cont)
Ethics question. Law firm is based out of NY. I am a NY barred attorney who would like to live about 1000 miles away as most of my work is completely remote. My practice is mostly federal agency work. Never appearing in court. Do I have any UPOL issues?
My HR rep told me that to apply for your CPA license in MA you only need 1 year of work experience, not 2009 billable hours. Didn't sound right- can anyone confirm/deny?
What's everyone hoping to get for Christmas? I got my present early: five months of billable work to start off 2016.
Hi Fishes, I have a offer from Deloitte of 14.68 CTC at Hyderabad location. But i don't want to relocate even after the pandemic also. Is there any chance they can give me permanent WFH . TIA
Just had our first team remote call. I have availability and team is looking for work for me, but I’m planning to resign on Friday bc it’s a good time to transition out. Should I tell the SM?
Can anyone tell me what normal SC consulting pay is? I’ve been with Deloitte coming up on 3 years and I’m still at 65K. (Never got a signing bonus either) I’m getting promoted to SC this May and hoping for 90K but am positive they’ll fall short and even 90K seems low to me. (But I did have perfect scatterplots and 150hrs of FIs) I’m a forensic consultant and am currently pursuing an MS in data analytics. I’m beyond fed up of being underpaid but am having a hard time finding a new job.
I work at a mid tier firm and my average raise over 5.5 years in public accounting has been 8%. Then this past year my bonus was $5k. How does that compare to other firms?
Has anyone heard when our govt clients will have their offices fully open and expect people back in-person? I know some are opened at limited capacity (personally, I’m in full support of working remote where possible) but just curious.
This 2 month wait for the comp discussion is almost as painful as the 3 month wait for cpa exam scores.
What can I expect the interview process at West Monroe to be like, particularly the case study? Heard great things about the culture, but how is comp for a SC in the M&A practice (HCOL)?
Since we’ve been WFH, has anyone upgraded their webcam and microphone (e.g., using a Blue Yeti mic instead of a headphone mic). Was it worth it?
Does an MBA add any value for investors? Playing with the idea of doing an executive MBA to help with future investment rounds from banks and/or PE firms. I know that actual business experience has the most value. My rational is that ticking the MBA box helps with trust. The added network would also help with finding money. Thoughts?
Any restrictions taking parental leave in the first year of employment at BCG/Bain? Couldn't find anything published online about it and not ready to disclose (too early in pregnancy)
Comp review coming up. I'm unhappy with the salary but feel like I have a bit more to learn before I leave. Anything I can say to change boost it a bit seeing as new join C's are making more than me.
Anyone willing to have a conversation about Bain and potentially giving a referral if it’s a good next step?
I would honestly pay fishbowl money if they would let me filter out all these dumb MBB(other firm) posts going on today
Do you see yourself staying in advertising? Why/why not? Are you planning on transitioning into another field, switching to in-house, or trying to move to a different type of role? What’s your goal, how do you plan to get there?
Do any of you work in PE and have a learning disability like dyscalculia and/or ADHD? If so, how do you cope with it? Does anyone know?
Is a referral helpful after you’ve already sent in an application? I just send one in for a position at Alvarez & Marsal and about to prepare one for Kearney. If anyone from either company is willing to chat about their experience and ther interview process it would be greatly appreciated 🙏
I’m a director in LA looking to collaborate on spec projects / ideas if anyone’s interested in book building. I’ve done some work w/ Nike, TeamOne, Leo B, Tombras. PM if interested!
Random question but any clue how much a senior big law associate (7th year) makes in Paris? I know lockstep is not a thing there but any guidance would be great.
I’m currently contributing 6% to my 401k and 3% to a Roth 401k. I’m 25 - should I be contributing more or is this okay? I live in nyc
Does anyone have trouble getting their SO to be more cleanly? My SO and I moved in together 1 ur ago and I feel like I’m constantly reminding him to do certain chores or pick up I after himself. I’m nice about it but it’s exhausting and a lot of the time he gets defensive or annoyed when I ask. I don’t have high expectations, just doing dishes as they pile and not pleasing clothes on the floor, putting dishes in the sick when you’re done etc. Anyone else had this problem?
I hear Jones Day doesn’t do bonuses. Is this true? I’m thinking of a lateral move but want to ensure I understand the comp structure. Any insight?
I'm a bad person. A girl I went to high school with has been downplaying COVID and been very anti-vax for the last year. Well she got COVID a couple weeks ago, and I chuckled a bit. Now she's at home on oxygen. I don't wish anything too terrible on her, but I hope this teaches her a lesson.
How many client billable hours (excluding probono etc) are you supposed to be billing per month not to be fired? I range anywhere from 130 to 200 hours depending on the month.
What are your thoughts on moving from analytics consulting (incentive compensation, forecasting) to strategy consulting? I recently made the same move and am wondering if I made the right choice?
