Does anyone have insight into current comp for Epic certified analysts in industry? I’m hearing around 130k gross (plus benefits) for FT positions. Seems attractive

As a consultant you'll probably get $120k or so starting, but analyst pay varies a lot by organization and experience

like

former epic here also. varies widely by location, customer, and experience. 130k is not impossible but also not common and definitely on the higher end of the scale. also that salary is almost certainly going to be in a relatively high cost of living area. UCLA has been known to pay as high as $140k, and i think i heard the same for john muir. you might be able to get that much out of partners or cedars as well - target the cash flush customers. inova max is about $100-$110k. johns hopkins offered an analyst i worked with (not former epic) $94k a couple years ago. lahey max is going to be about $100k. friend of mine (former epic) got an offer at a dallas customer for $120k. hope this helps. consider yourself lucky if you get an offer for $130k outside of a high COL city.

Do you have EPIC certification?

Depends on which cert and organization

Former Epic employee; I have both clinical and Rev Cycle certifications and implementation experience

If a higher salary is what you are after, look into the smaller boutique firms...you should pull 80-100/hr (160-200k/yr) depending on the contract. As a Cerner certified consultant, I was making 80-90/hr. at my firm before I started working sales for them. Send burner if you are interested! We are always interested in Epic cert, esp if you know Rev Cycle. We offer benefits and 401k matching also.

The ultimate goal is to save enough for the kids college, retire early, and travel. Do you choose a higher salary career that involves a lot of travel which takes you away from your family but gets you to your end goal sooner? Or do you take a lower salary career with minimal travel and flexibility to spend time with your family?
