Hi all, I’m currently a year into a role at a top tier firm. Team and WLB are great but growth prospects are unclear and not a sector of long term interest. My manager hasn’t been able to articulate his medium term vision and how my role fits into that and doesn’t seem concerned that I’m overqualified for the support nature of my role. I’m making it to offer stages for other roles offering me over 30% more than I currently earn and with very strong prospects. Am I being to hasty in wanting out?

I’m leaving my job that I have been at for seven months because I found a similar role that pays way more plus has better benefits. I want to leave on good terms because it’s been a good job and my boss is super low-key. I just wish I had done more salary research before taking this job to negotiate better pay. What should I tell my boss?

In a low level marketing position that I learned on the job. I'd like to make this career but don't know where to start with regard to course/education. I took a Foundations in SM Marketing Certificate but that's it. Thinking google ads/seo? Not even sure what direction is feasible/lucrative/growing. I'm a 45yo mom working from home w only an outdated associates in my pocket so the long college thing isn't an option. I need to be making a living wage while I learn.

Contriversal topic but here it goes: I’m in-house a F100 and happen to be a white male (although I do have a fairly severe “invisible” disability). Progression to a management level attorney is quite difficult despite the relatively large. Recently the company announced DEI initiative that includes targets and goals for women and people of color (not applicable to other minorities). I absolutely want more diversity in our law department - I’ve taken steps to help ensure that there is - but…

I went in-house at year 4 — now at year 5. I feel like my growth has stunted and I’m not learning and growing my skill set. I don’t think I was very seasoned when I went in-house, was just very burnt out from big law. Can I go back to firm life to gain more skills then go back? WLB and everything else is great. Just don’t feel like I’m growing…!

My GC informed our team that he’s leaving today. Great for him!! Although I have good job security and I’m well integrated, I assume that that some of his responsibilities will be divvied among our very small team. The bright side is that I’m not super busy and could probably handle more work. But it would mean that my job would change significantly and I probably can’t maintain WLB. What do I do in this situation? Accept the responsibilities and ask for more money? Start looking elsewhere?

I am torn about 2 offers I have (one I've accepted at a v10, & the practice i'm joining is band 1 ranked), and an in-house role where the hours would be much less, and the pay cut somewhat steep. Pros of the firm job are (1) $ since we are trying to buy a house and (2) It will hopefully be easy to go in-house after a few years at the firm. The in house gig is at a fintech firm that sounds amazing (great culture, hours are 9 to 6, and the work sounds ideal for me). I have 2 small kids. Advice?

I'm a 3rd-year corporate transactional attorney with a private firm. Around 50 attorneys, which is as big as it gets for the state I'm in. I've become disillusioned with the partnership track career path fairly quickly and don't think it's for me. Before taking a large pivot and leaving the law entirety, I've thought about going in-house.

(1) Are there any downsides to going in-house too early?

(2) Would it make it more difficult to go back to private practice if I don't like that experience?
