Has anyone transitioned from partnership tax to another internal group (i.e. consulting)? Was the switch worth it?

Compliance doesn’t interest me like it used to and Partnership tax experience alone really limits exit opportunities.

Is it too late to get experience in another group if you’re already a manager?

Hi! Happy Friday! So I would like to ask for some pointers…I am looking for a side gig to keep my skills sharp and also make extra money, I am very good at data clean up in Salesforce using ETL tools. Anyway, if you guys can point me on where I can find some consulting or side gigs cleaning up or structuring data, I did that for 3 years implementing Salesforce and pivoted to demo’ing so don’t get to do a lot of that anymore 😊 thank you ahead of time!

How do you deal with extreme changes that affect the way you do your role? I have expressed how these drastic changes have affected my work productivity and how I see myself hitting my goals but it seems to be viewed as more complaining than expressing my concerns with managing a new sector that has not been done before.

FYI I am the only one on my team with the prior experience managing influencer marketing.

I’m looking for advice on finding a new job as a paralegal. I just recently got my paralegal certificate in May 2021 and have been working as a paralegal for a Sole Practitioner since August, but had to make the decision to leave because I’m not making enough money to support myself. I have experience in Plaintiff’s work doing mostly personal injury, but have handled other types of cases, too. I don’t have much experience in this field thus far and would appreciate any advice I can get.

How does one approach management about performance reviews? In every position I’ve had prior to my current one, reviews have been organized by management, and fairly regular, but I’ve been at my current firm for almost three years now, and have had one meeting to discuss performance. More to the point, I’d like to discuss my salary and feel a bit awkward bringing that up given the irregularity of these sorts of meetings.

Topic: interviews

Is it appropriate to follow up after interviews to ask why you were not selected? And/or ask for feedback so that you can develop and improve professionally?

I've had SEVERAL interviews since February, and I keep getting rejected and it's starting to leave me feeling discouraged. I've been in my current position for just over 3 years and in the industry for around 4 years and have a bachelor's in Legal Studies. The positions I've applied to all vary in nature.

So I've been tasked with talking to our expert in a case to get details on his opinion, ask questions about his report, and discuss what he may have to do as the case progresses. I'd already rather the attorney be doing this, but whatever. I want to record the call just so I can take my notes from it and make sure I dont miss anything and then delete it, but wouldn't such a recording be discoverable? And then wouldn't deleting it then be destroying discoverable information?

How have you broke the news to your boss that you’re looking to make a career change and leave the practice? I am the Sr. Paralegal at my firm (7+ years) and work for a solo practitioner in a very busy wage & hour class action practice. We have one other legal assistant and law clerk. I don’t want to burn bridges, but after seeing how he gave the cold shoulder to his paralegal of 10+ years after going on maternity leave and never coming back, I don’t see how I can’t expect the same treatment.
