It’s about habit so you have to replace one habit with another. If you want a beer, have a nonalcoholic drink instead.
Surely is a good NA wine! Just avoid the Pinot noir. Bubbles are best.

Drink a large glass of water between drinks

Cut out what you enjoy the least! For example if that’s the wine and cheese on Thursdays, just schedule a workout class after work so you don’t hit that happy hour. Or plan something fun early in the morning on a Saturday with your SO so you’re tempted to skip the wine over takeout.

That’s tougher for sure… how many drinks do you usually have there? If it’s more than 1, maybe just try 1 or a few sips to exercise a little willpower and then once you prove that to yourself cut back to 0. Otherwise, having a strong “why” is really important to sticking to your goals… why do you want to avoid the Thursday drinks?
Not to promote juice cleanses/diets or anything like that but when I do a simple 2-3 day “cleanse” of some sort where I’m paying money for something else other than alcohol, it’s easier to say no cause I don’t want to cheat myself out of a product I’m trying out. I’ve also bought fun mock tails online that I would pour over ice so it felt like a cocktail but wasn’t. I guess what I’m saying is replace alcohol with something else.

Just remind yourself that one drink is roughly two hours on a treadmill.
Disagree. If you want sustainable change for life it will not come via this mentality.
Heineken Zero.
Where do you drink
I hit 3.5 months of sobriety today and I have never made a better decision in my life, I truly did not know life gets this amazing and I can be 100% present in it and remember it all retain it
Different take here:
Start working out at drinking time (or in the morning if you drink at night). It’ll give you the high/endorphins, and if you drink too much the workout will punish you and provide negative feedback after a night of too much
My husband and I had to cut back to 4/week for fertility. We found that NA beers are a game-changer - great for hanging at home and many restaurants have them now.
Seedlip mocktail mixers are interesting and delicious. It’s hard, but I have become a more mindful drinker by pairing drinking with experiences vs drinking as default. A gorgeous chicago summer Thursday and surprise date night outside with husband? A margarita hits. Sitting on the couch on our typical post-work netflix grind? Not the same, so I try and recognize the urge as the reflex it is.
