Does anyone have reccos for online classes, resources, or even books for guitar and/or bass lessons? I have taught myself both and can carry a tune but have found myself hitting a wall from lack of music theory or technical knowledge and would love to be able to just jam a bit more as opposed to looking up chords of songs I like.

Advice on holding/selling: I started investing last year, mostly in index funds but also in ETFs of sectors I believe most in (renewables, hydrogen, biotech). These of course did great then terrible… I still think there will be huge investment in these in coming years but now understand how overvalued they were when I got in. Is it worth holding on despite 20-30 percent losses, or are even worse times ahead/will get eaten up by fees? Lesson learned to not overindex on growth…

Just had my discovery flight and I’ve been wanting to go for my PPL for a while, just not sure I can justify the 15k or so investment in my current financial situation. Would it be really bad to spread my lesson over a period of a few years?

So, I’m an ambitious woman in the consulting world. I do my work really well and have great reputation but when I try to talk with my coach or folks around that are not as ambitious, sort of try to “calm” me down and give me life lessons and ask me to take it slow. I obviously get super annoyed but don’t show it. How can I change this ? Should I change this coach?

Can someone who has jumped from consulting to early stage start-up comment on what their road, and lessons learned have been? Has your pay eventually picked back up to what it was at the consulting level ? Are you happy you made the move? What do you see are your next opportunities if the start-up doesn’t work out?

What is your top favorite lesson? Mine would be one last year when I had to find the time to get into the classrooms and teach. I led a talk about the Harlem Renaissance and the kids made a jazz collage. It will be much easier with the art room back open.

Becuz I’m old school I like excel. Just wanted to share (I know I do okay - 27 yo). I record leases as debt on my balance sheet since it’s an obligation I’ll need to pay (and therefore the recurring dips year after year). I guess lesson learned is that it definitely snowballs (16k to 100k took 2 years while 100 to 190k took 1 year).

I definitely feel very self conscious about my age (28) and being in law. One of my cats got a bit sick recently, and due to covid all veterinary clinics around me were not accepting new patients, and the one that actually did only had availability for mid-September. Going to the ER was $250 for the visit + $500 for the xray and $450 for tests... without insurance... definitely don’t want to pay so much again, especially considering I have 2 cats I’d rather be safe than sorry

Why do some people see liberal arts degrees as useless? Saw an earlier post where many bashed the liberal arts. As someone who both interviews and manages undergrad hires, I haven’t seen a big difference between say a philosophy major, a business major, or an engineering major. While there are technical jobs that need specific skills, most entry level consulting, finance, and industry roles don’t. It boggles my mind how someone would say they would pick accounting over liberal arts every time.
