Does anyone have some sort of matrix or estimation chart that they can provide as something to provide to clients so they know how many hours of work it will take them? Looking for something I can provide to my team so they’ll can give it to their clients. Would be great if the matrix has everything from adjusting components to full blown redesign. Thanks in advance!

I've found getting as granular as number of hours is extremely difficult unless it's a very cookie-cutter type of task.

Client revisions can wreck all of your estimates.

The metric I've found more useful to focus on is the project span (aka turnaround time), typically measured in weeks.

like

That sounds like a risky idea. Until you can get a handle on the scope of the work (per project), you could be constantly underestimating any work. If anything, you need to reflect on your team's previous work to come up with something like that. What takes one designer 4 hours could take another designer 15 hours.

like

Wouldn't your team know best how long it will take them to do tasks?

Measure by product/project outcome? What is goal or objectives?
How many revisions?
You should charge based on the value and solutions you provide and their timeline, not sweat this granular stuff..

Look at the futur Chris Do for more on this concept

Someone already mentioned it. But to reiterate,

When using hourly, you’re punished for being good. You’re ridiculed for taking too long to earn your bread.

But if you master your craft and can do something great and fast, you can see how you’re going to be paid less. Which makes no sense.

So value based pricing is the way to go. Don’t charge by the hour if you can.

You set your rates based on your experience and skillset. Maybe a base price. And additional edits could be hourly if it makes sense.

Is it silly to want to feel valued by my Partner/Practice Leader?

He rewards me well rating/comp-wise, gives me a lot of latitude etc but OTOH I constantly get blown off for check-ins, multiple emails ignored, excluded from some conversations that might be relevant for me, etc.

Maybe it’s just normal Partner behavior and I should grow a thicker skin, but generally feel emotionally disconnected from him and that my portfolio of work is not integral, or is an afterthought, to the practice.

So just had my first Amazon interview interaction the other day and its BS. Accenture Hi All, My lead just had a connect with the DU lead asking about hike for December. He got agitated saying that do not expect last year scenario this time, it's instruction from leadership. Compare your base package from Dec'21, it'll be some what 20%. And also he insisted that we are not even stopping and negotiating people who have put papers, whoever wants to leave can leave, we will manage. Accenture is however not firing anyone like Publicis Sapient

My company is asking us to put bios on our their website complete w/photos, “qualifications,” & interests. Since I also do freelance work and consulting I don’t want potential clients to see my lower job title & hurt my personal branding. Bad idea 2 ask?

Example you know few ideas are not good suggestion but he wants to see by his eyes then for the same result, no trust. I currently work on a B2B (SaaS) product that has never ending things to be fixing and building which overall is great but the company isn’t doing that well and I feel really burnt out from being the only designer with no help. I’ve been thinking of leaving and many job openings are in more B2C spaces.

For those of you who work in UX/product design for e-commerce or B2C companies, do you find you have enough variety in your work to keep you engaged daily and do you like it?
