Just described one of the most common issues in tax. It takes practice and still happens to everyone. In my experience, what’s happening is your brain going into analytics mode while trying to stay in social mode. Your brain wants to give a complete answer but also scope it down to something the client or other intended recipient is looking for. So your brain is in overdrive assessing facts and supporting a conclusion, while identifying common fact changes you need to mention, and then separately trying to analyze what you can cut out to avoid a monologue Then you speak and the feedback isn’t what was expected starting you back at the beginning. Embrace general terms and not needing to answer on the spot.
Cont’d - That is, if I’m in the right mindset - ie alone at a computer or in a rehearsed situation where I have the comfort of being listened to. Otherwise, when I have to have spontaneous discussions or being drilled with on the spot technical questions / scrutiny / discussion, of actual practical examples I notice that I tend to either forget facts very fast or just draw constant blanks! It seems very impulsive and involuntary but my brain kind of squeezes hold of the knowledge I want to extract
Anytime OP. Just my experience. Short version is imagine having to write emails without editing it ever. That’s the face to face experience
