I interviewed with Firm A months ago and accepted a position to start this upcoming fall. Group leader called me to offer the position back in November 2020. Besides interviewing with partners at the firms, and diligent follow ups notifying them of my interest to get started, no communication has transpired since. It turns out that I accepted a better offer w/ Firm B for personal reasons and won’t be going to Firm A. What is the best way to notify Firm A? Call/email group leader? Call/email HR?

To be honest, I’m in a contract role and feel I’m being paid market rate. I ONlY have the one contract role, and left my prior finance role to do this job because it was better fit and better pay. I’ve been told that once I convert to permanent as most people in this role do, I’ll actually get a pay bump a little higher because they no longer have to pay 150% salary for the recruiter to get their cut.
So it depends… are you looking at more like per diem contract work, or more of a long term and full time contract? Because the full time ones usually go through an agency and those agencies do provide benefits. I don’t use or need them because my husbands benefits are better as a teacher, but the contract company has me on a w2 for the year long contract and does offer health, disability, life insurance you can opt into as well as 401k after 3 months. It’s very much like a normal role on that front, so the only risk is in the fact that it isn’t permanent.
I made it clear I'm only interested in per diem/project based though and not part time weekly
