Can anyone describe Amazon’s culture for an associate corporate counsel,based on team? I’ve read a number of comments on this app and across the internet about the company in general but the individuals never specify what team they’re referring to. I’ve heard from two corp counsel that AWS doesn’t have the best WLB but Prime Video does. I’d be interested to hear what this bowl has to add. The more data points I can gather before interviewing, the better.

Fellow ACDs, I have a question. Since becoming an ACD, It feels a lot like project management and wrangling creatives to get their work done. I don’t remember being this dismissive of my projects as a Jr/Midlevel. I feel more like a creative babysitter that picks up scraps than it actually feels like improving the work. I try to talk to them/help manage their time but I feel like they inherently lack motivation. What is y’all’s experience as an ACD? Is this what it’s like usually?

Lately, there has been a lot of “shopping around” by business units for the legal advice they want to hear. One has now gone over my head twice to the GC to get a legal “okay” that I advised against. “Tattling” on me first saying “no.” These power plays are really frustrating. We have a culture of “getting the client to YES,” but it’s hard for me to do that when I know the “yes” will bring certain liability to us. Is there an effective strategy to succeeding in this type of atmosphere?

I have a good relationship with my Practice Leader, and they’ve put me up for Partner this year (🤞). But I have a competing, higher-comp, offer for direct admit Partner at another, larger firm. Tbh, I’m thinking about it. Should I discuss with my Practice Leader?

I’m probably not going to use it for leverage, as I think that’d sour things, but want to make it known - if there any doubts - that I have options elsewhere. Should I leak it to a different Partner that I am considering this offer?

I’m a sales engineer in the manufacturing industry working for a small company, who received a job offer from another small company in a different industry within the manufacturing space who really wants me.

My growth has been the following:
Base: 70k
Commission:
FY20: 12k
FY21: 14k

The offer:
100k, with $7.5k sign on bonus. I’d be paid hourly with opportunity for OT for the first 3-6 months as inside sales while I learn the product and then transition into outside sales at 120k base
