I don't work for Riot — nor do I have connections there, but here's a less conventional networking strategy you can use if you want to take ownership and put odds in your favor, if you REALLY want it:
1) Find 2-3 senior people at Riot Games who post influencer-like content frequently on LinkedIn that resonate with you
2) Start interacting with their LinkedIn content slowly, commenting on a few posts and showing that you're genuinely interested in what they're posting, picking up the pace over a few weeks
3) Shoot a direct message a few weeks in to kick off a conversation, making it totally about them and your shared enthusiasm for their interests
4) Keep engaging with their content for a few more weeks, then make the ask for an informational coffee chat in the messages where you've started a conversation
5) Have your informational coffee chat, get them to talk about themselves and their experiences, build rapport, and bag a solid connection that you can use whether you want a referral or someone who helps keep an eye out for the position you're looking for, so when that position comes along, your connection can help you get an interview.
5.5) If you want to go the extra mile here, ask your connection about the biggest challenges they're facing at riot games right now, so you can start thinking of solutions to those problems, and put together a deck (or some sort of project that showcases your skills) on why you would be the best person to solve those problems and contribute value. Then send your deck to the hiring manager and be persistent until you get a response. That's called a value validation project, and you can look it up yourself if you want more information on it.
6) Find 2-3 people each at 3-5 other companies you'd like to work at. That way, you diversify and have a stronger chance at succeeding. Good luck!
Bit late to replying, but would you be willing to get together and talk about riot games?
