What position are you looking at?

How do you find that information?

Grade is on peoplesoft, pay band high and lows are only available to managers

Position and location?

Location is remote. And the position was an ops leader

Do Managers set there own pay band scales?

We’re you able to get that information? I just interviewed and am curious what the pay band is for business analyst, integrated absence management.

Ask the recruiter what the band is, it would also be on your offer if you were to get one

A great opportunity with a top brand has come up. I have not actively looked to make a move, but this role and brand looks really promising with a greater earning potential. Down side is I would need to relocate which I do not want to do and would be a challenge for my wife’s job . Any suggestions on how to leverage for a leveling of my current salary and role which I have been told is in the works but I have not seen any sort of movement to give me confidence that it will happen?

It seems like everyone is in agreement that switching firms gives you a salary boost, but that you could be viewed as someone that doesn’t stick around. Has anyone felt like they got held back from jumping firms every 2-3 years for the salary bump? I know peers that bounced around 2-4 times in a 7 year span and they are making significantly more money than if they stayed at their first job, however it didn’t seem like any of the new companies cared that they bounced around. Other experiences?

I recently started my own firm. We primarily do ID. I want to give our attorneys flexibility and a work life balance so I’m considering giving them a higher % of every hour billed/collected as the basis of their compensation rather than a set salary. This would eliminate any billing pressure and give attorneys the freedom to decide how much they want to work/earn. Anyone have any thoughts on whether this would be fair and/or a good idea?

I realize the rates are going back up and just wanted any advice on if it’s best to lock that in the next week or keep shopping as my closing is May 14. Thanks in advance!

Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations

Hello all. My company just went through an acquisition and the company did some restructuring of job titles. When they did this we were all advised the company would be making sure our jobs pay aligned with the national average.
My issue with this is my job title went from a Technical Support Supervisor to a Customer Success Team Lead. I have voiced my concerns with management but have been advised job titles are semantics. In my eyes this is a demotion, and will affect how much my job is worth.

Is it possible to ask for too high of a salary during an interview?

I had an interview end early because they couldn't match my salary ask despite me being a "perfect candidate" (their words). The range was the same/lower than what I currently make, and their role was for a more senior position. I gave a highball range but I figured there would be some negotiating. Maybe that company just isn't the right fit for me, but I'm just thrown off by how quickly the call ended after that.

Q for HR folks! For companies who have offices in US and Canada, how easy would it be for American HR team to set up a role & compensation via the Canadian office for a Canadian remote worker? Would be a lot of work? But i know companies like Meta and Spotify do do this.

I had my first interview today for a director position I would consider a dream role, and it went well. They want me to talk to the VP, but I found out I would definitely have to relocate to a different state to execute tasks.

The salary is within range of what I would accept, but I just moved to a different state.

I want to leverage this, and follow up with the hiring with another place (similar position in my current city and state) I haven’t heard from yet. Do you think that’s wise to do?

3 years ago I asked for a compensation review/raise, went through what felt like a ridiculous 8 MONTH long process of defending why it was warranted, only to be told no. 3 months ago I asked again and it has gone nowhere. I should add that salary bands are kept secret and I have no clue what the range for my position is. There are a decent amount of benefits in my position, the biggest being WLB, which is what has kept me here for so long. But I’m getting frustrated. What would you do?

I’m on a 6-month extendable contract and my manager really likes me; she always says that they want to convert me ASAP, however they don’t have the budget right now to hire me. They plan to hire me by the end of the year (7-month mark) but that means I won’t get paid for 3 days during thanksgiving and a whole week during December. How can I push for them to make me permanent as soon as possible? This is my first job out of college so I’m not sure how to approach this situation.

GM!
im 10 weeks into my contract as a PO at a large satelline/wireless provider (synonym: plate) and the company has offered to bring me on as an internal employee.

currently i am hourly contractor at a rate of $50/hr + 2k sign on

the salaried offer is for 104k ( $52/hr)/ no bonus

problem here is that i work 48-52hrs/wk & get paid overtime, so taking this offer would actually be a paycut by about $250-300/wk

how / what should i negotiate as a fair compensation package
