Does anyone in the Private Banking or Private Wealth industry have advice for someone like myself who is just entering the industry? This advice can be hard or soft skills to pick up in my early years or any information that could be useful for years to come. Much appreciated!

Fishes, need advice. I dipped my toe in the market and now have an offer that is $100k more than my current salary (in industry, as a program manager). Spoke to my lead partner and they’ve been able to increase my pay by $9k (lol). I don’t feel ready to leave consulting as I’ve come from industry. What would u do?

I’m mid-level in my HR career at my current company and an upcoming Master’s graduate. Studying for my SHRM-CP too. How did you make the transition to that next level? What skills do you need, or is it really just based on YOE (I am the youngest compared to my teammates, many who have 10+ YOE)? I feel like career pathing is not very clear at my company. Each time I ask for guidance on this from my manager, I get told they’ll look into it.... would love some external mentorship and thoughts 🙏🏼

I’ve been in life underwriting for over 20 years and honestly have never enjoyed it. The strictly production related work is hard for me to stay focused and be interested in the job. Any ideas on what else I can do and still make decent money? I’ve always found it pretty stressful and would prefer a less stressful position.

I work at a consulting firm and next year I’m hopefully going to get booked on Data analytics engagements (starting with the business intelligence segment). One AD said it would be helpful to learn Azure cloud. Where should I start with that and what are some the things I should know/ be able to do in Azure cloud? I feel very confident with SQL and Powerbi and I’m decent with Python, but I don’t have a lot of technical knowledge with things like Azure Cloud.

I’m trying to help a friend start a career in the advertising/marketing industry. He’s got a media and production degree, but looking for something entry-level that would give him the opportunity to explore what different departments do.

I was thinking maybe community manager roles would be a good start, but they all seem to be looking for 5+ years.

Any suggestions? Anybody that might be willing to have an informational conversation with him?

Decade+ in and realizing I would rather be either in pure play brand consulting (like an Interbrand) or in consumer/culture advisory (deeper thought leadership, trends, consulting, like a Gartner or a WGSN ish) than stay in ad agencies working on campaign development. Has anyone made a pivot like this successfully? I feel like I am at a point where there are some skills or experiences those worlds require that I haven’t been able to “go deep” on, consistently in agency brand planning world.

Do not put anything on a resume that you can't talk in detail on especially if you claim to know this topic. One you get caught having stuffed your resume with jargon and hype word but don't know anything or very much about it, the interviewer will start probing hard to find not discrepancies and soon you're resume will be in the round filing cabinet with a big no written on it.
