Recently got the opportunity to "grow our ESG/CSR" practice at a small regional consulting firm, due to my recent grad certification in sustainable strategy. Wondering where I should focus us as a services industry for big impact - we have a large product innovation, engineering area, and know in the past we've had a lot of lip service to clients and only recorded ESG for their compliance.

Client issue - I’m on one of my client’s supervisor’s “bad list.” Our firm requires updates every 60-90 days. Rarely miss sending reports on time, but some of the clients request updates every 20-30 days. I try to respond timely, but don’t always, often will just send a reply saying I will have this for you within 1 week or ASAP. Since October, one of the supervisors for this company will periodically email the head of our department (not cc’ing me) and say they are missing reports. (Cont.)

If my firm promotes one more initiative or event about “managing your work-life balance” I’m going to lose it. My current project is unrelenting and I do nothing but work and sleep. I’ve tried everything I can to manage the workload but the work keeps coming and the requests fall on deaf ears.

I resent work-life balance being treated as an individual skill I need to improve on, and not a structural problem that our firm’s leaders need to solve.
