Any recommendations for a “good” leadership book that has helped you? Hard to choose when reading reviews on Amazon, I prefer more personalized recommendations (as personal as it can get on fishbowl). Thank you!
This is consistent with the research findings in my book "Lead From the Future". The 5-10 year horizon brings as much to see opportunities as much as threats and is the north star; need even now
What’s a book you’ve read that made you a better CD. Books on creativity, mentorship, leadership, etc. I want this thread to be a resource for everyone.
Hi friends! I’m looking for resources to help me be successful in a “Functional Lead” role.
The role is in FinTech
I’m responsible for strategy, comms and key partnerships for a bank product. It reports through Customer Experience but touches product, Ops. marketing. It’s basically a Project Manager role but more nuanced.
Anyone out there in a role like this? Any books. videos or even best practices to share?
Which books would you recommend for in house counsel about strategy, management, and leadership?
Asking as product counsel for tech startup.
Latest episode posted! “Generals in the Making” is a gem of a leadership book and should be required reading for any early or mid-level professional. The book is an engrossing examination of how four army generals of World War II, each a major player in their own right, navigated the uncertain and tumultuous pre-war years in their careers. sphttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/black-market-leadership/id1523238553?i=1000533915181
Does anyone have recommendations for thought leaders/influencers in the M&A space? Looking for blogs, books, YouTube videos? Not currently in the space, trying to learn more as I’m thinking about a pivot after a few years in consulting/startups

Leadership asking 500 people to book seat in office with 50 seating capacity.
- fairly decent place to work (from someone who worked with the Vancouver and San Jose offices). never met a blue badger (permanent employee) who had awful things to say.
- Ashley Goodall (their SVP, Methods & Intelligence) co-authored a brilliant book on leadership and people management called “Nine Lies About Work” that makes me believe they can be an awesome place to work
- red badgers had low morale since they’re contract workers and can be terminated at any time
What books/reading materials or videos would you consider essential for c-suite leadership?
Best way to develop your leadership skills for the healthcare field? Or books/resources you would recommend?
Hey all - how do you guys sell or lead things you aren’t genuine believing in? It’s almost like a fake it till you make it? I find it difficult to be behind a product or technology I don’t understand enough of or believe and I previously used to work in sales. Also any books/techniques which help. I am often too genuine or objective.
I lead a team of women (ranging from 2-8 years into their careers) and want to advocate for their career growth with management. I’ve made the case for promotions and raises (have been pushing for this for months and keep being told “soon”—but I won’t give up), but I also want to try smaller asks and would love suggestions. Are there any books, one-off classes/trainings, virtual events, memberships, etc. that you’d recommend? Thank you!
soo my sleep schedule is effed up, i keep trying to wake up early-ish (7am) but i’m lacking motivation and i wake up tired 😴
i stumbled upon this article that talked about this book. we always hear about the “secret” of strong leaders is that they wake up early. has anyone read this/tried it out?

So… would anyone at WK be willing to look at my book and consider hiring me to idk… write your emails or literally anything…
If you’re succeeding on all the right metrics (i.e., leadership loves you, clients love you, you’re participating on pitches, you’ve brought in clients, and you’re set up to inherit a book of business), but you’re still not super into it, being promoted to income partner won’t change things, right? Worth sticking out to see or jumping to go in house at a pre-IPO, late stage startup you find super exciting and interesting?
Ladies, need some advice. I am in Scrum Master role for tech team that is more senior engineers and architects. Feeling very out of the loop as I am not involved in all the discussions and then asked for progress on items from leaders and that am I not aware of..
the team gets Ad hoc requests so new items come up after that stand up and SM/ M will ping folks directly. Feeling like I have become an assistant who updates tickets and books meetings..
What’s a good book when you’re more of a project manager but want to give the effect of leadership ?
Which books would you recommend to a product counel for tech startup about strategy, management, and leadership?
Hi Fishes! Can we get a transfer to CG Florida if we were previously working with the India Team?
Honestly I don’t think agencies are going to exist the way they do 15-20 years from now. The way they operate is designed for burn out for employees. I’ve worked at a total of 5 agencies across Chicago and NYC, and things end up always being toxic and the work life balance is just not sustainable nor justifiable when I look back. I mean look across this app and see what people post in regards to advertising, we deserve better.
Has anyone heard what “too much” WE looks like for T15? I know it’s probably not best to deviate too much from the avg 5.5YOE, what about closer to 6.5-7 (when matriculation happens, 6 when you apply)?
I need to switch to different team mainly in to data analyst role. I have learnt few tools like alteryx and power Bi. Could any one help me with this. Currently i am into compliance tax team.
What are the most valuable skills you’ve learned from consulting? Especially strategy focused consulting
Remote vs in person for software developers in their early career. I started my career in 2021 fully remote. After the office opened again in 2022, I was able to learn a lot about the system from other people in the office and solve bugs faster. Without a doubt made my job easier. Lots of my colleagues still work from home in 2022. I can’t see why they are making it harder for themselves on purpose. I’m fairly confident they can afford to get to the office because they have teslas and shit.
I am not able to upload my tax declaration details from the greyHR portal. It is showing an error message since morning. Is there anyone else who is facing the same issue

When changing jobs, how should I evaluate the salary change if I am switching from a HCOL to LCOL? Seems crazy to accept a pay decrease in this market but not sure if it’s really a decrease after factoring in the COL. Going from B4 to industry if it matters.

Does anyone know of a way to donate directly to the Africans in Ukraine right now? I’m sure they could use the help, but seeing as how Ukraine won’t put aside their racism during a national crisis, I don’t want to donate to organizations that won’t support Black Ukrainians.
Lived in the NYC/NJ area for my entire 28years of existence. Strongly considering moving to the DMV for a change of pace once my lease ends in Sept. Has anyone made a similar move? Are careers generally focused on federal/government? Interested in any comments/suggestions.

Anyone have any insight/thoughts on the culture at Google for black employees? Leaving consulting because of the culture and had a black recruiter from Google reach out. I don't believe Google will be THAT much better but I don't have much of a reference point on the culture internally. The recruiter mentioned Strat Ops roles but has asked for my resume.
Hey everyone, I’m currently an environmental engineer, but my first job was at Accenture for 3 years as a functional tester mostly. It’s been 4 years since I left Accenture and I’m looking to get back into the tech and/or consulting space, but not as a tester. What path would you all recommend where I can be hired above entry level without having directly relevant experience?
Let them keep making their mistakes. Do not help them fix shit. They have seen the writing on the wall and are panicking.

So recently got a tiny piercing on my left ear a few weeks back which is still healing. However I’m due to attend a face to face event at my new employer in a few weeks and wondered if I can leave the piercing in without reputational consequences. What are thoughts on tiny piercings (size of a pin) at consulting workplaces?

How many times have you intentionally been left out of happy hours and other office events? Super annoyed with some of the people in my office who pretend like we’re cool or that they care to get to know me, but then constantly leave me out of things smh
