It’s looking like my job is gonna start asking us to return to the office. We have an open office plan and before we wfh FT I would save all my work for my telework days bc I can’t get shit done in the office. I’m having major anxiety about them making this decision. I know I’m not alone that people don’t want to return to the office. My ADHD and the open office just makes working from the office a nightmare and I’m feeling really nervous and kind of resentful.

After 4 years as a Systems Analyst on the same team, my salary has moved from around $57,000 to 83,000. Now I’m moving to a new team within the same company as a Cloud Engineer and am moving up to the next pay grade. During my offer 4 years ago, I feel I severely undersold myself as they actually offered me more than I asked for. Does anybody have input on what is a fair salary for my new role? I have a BS in CS and have my Cloud Practitioner cert. Working on my Solutions Architect cert.

Has anyone heard of or conducted reference checks by video meeting? I submitted references for a job, and they’ve been contacted… for a video chat/meeting. This is the first time I’ve ever heard of this, and I feel terrible for not being able to warn my references ahead of time. I also feel like this is a huge ask of references - no one has the time for or wants another video meeting during business hours. Anyone doing this or hear of it? Is it a new or common thing?

I want to be an HR generalist, but I am afraid I may have to take a step back in order to do so. I’ve been in recruiting and the talent management sector of HR for 5+ years. Now, I want to step into a generalist role, but realize I lack some aspects of experience that I maybe could have gotten as an HR coordinator. Do I need to take a step back/laterally move before becoming a generalist? I have my PHR. Thank you!

So, a recruiter gave me feedback that my lack SPHR or SHRM-SCP is causing my resume to be knock out by AI and human recruiters despite my position and work history in Multinationals and being in Technology. I dont mind it at all but recentIy I was out sick for 2 day and my new manager asked me to use pto for those missed days. We've had several convos regarding my work style etc. This was a bit off putting and would to get other perspectives.

Career advice: I became an HR mgr/BP relatively early on in my career so have 7 years BP exp. and 9 overall. I work in pharma as a Sr. BP/manager now. I’d like to make a move into an AD or higher role but seem to only get consideration for lateral moves. Not sure if it’s because I don’t have enough experience or if I’ve never had direct reports? How did you make that first jump? I’d need to relocate for anything at my current org which is not possible for me right now. Thanks for insights!

HR Generalist & HRBP input needed! I’ve always been interested in HR Generalist roles as I like a variety in a role. I have been a recruitment specialist and a compensation & benefits specialist and thoroughly enjoy the different sectors. The only thing that gives me pause is the employee relations piece as I don’t think I’d be good at it. Can any generalists or business partners advise if they found that part of the role challenging when first starting?

I started at a new company about 2 months ago. I joined during a slow period of work and going into the holidays has practically been nothing. However when I do need approvals on things or direction from my boss it is radio silence. I can not get a response to save my life and I feel as if people are getting frustrated with me because of this. It also makes me feel as if there is no urgency in my position or the company in general. Wondering if this is even the right company for me.

Hi, my company is considering Cornerstone for LMS. The pricing seems great and the offer matches our budget. The rep told us there are no hidden costs. We are a medium sized company. Anyone here had any negative experiences with Cornerstone? If your company is already using their product, do you recommend this?

I've recently been seeing more people talk about human capital and psychological capital and was wondering if anyone had any resources for someone that doesn't have formal training in HR. Books, websites, podcasts, honestly anything to help connect some dots for what it is and how it fits into the workplace.
